About

Why I make soap

Hello. My name is Lisa. I have wanted goats since I was around 3 or 4 years old when my great-uncle purchased a couple. I fell in love that day and haven't looked back. It took over 40 years to realize the dream of having my own herd. Life and circumstance made me wait longer than I intended but, I never lost the dream or the love. I have a tiny herd by most standards and right now, it feels perfect. I have 2 Alpine does, 1 Nigerian Dwarf buck and 1 Mini-Alpine Wether. I have 1 doe in milk right now and it is because of her that I am able to make the soap. We have developed a strong bond over the last couple of months because I hand milk her twice a day. It is a very intimate relationship. Her name is Chocolate and she produces 1 gallon a milk a day. It's just my husband and I and we can't consume that much milk. I have to do something with all of the excess milk that we have and soap making seems the perfect solution.
