Hello! My name is Jeannine Meisenkothen. I design and hand-craft each item in Posh Picks Boutique at my home in Durham, CT. I am a wife and mother of 3. My dad was an Woodworking teacher and I was lucky enough to learn few tricks from him.
I discovered my love of refinishing furniture while decorating a bedroom in our home. I was not having any luck looking for an inexpensive small-scale dresser. Finally, after spending many hours looking online and in countless stores, I thought I would try refinishing a dresser I found at a local Habitat ReStore. The dresser was strong and solid, but inexpensive. I bought a $3.00 bottle of paint from Home Depot. What did I have to lose? About half-way through the project, I was hooked. I realized, once I found a piece of furniture with good bones, I could make it into whatever I wanted!
Over time I started creating home decor items as well. I now offer these designs here on Etsy. My favorite items to make are personalized wood blocks. I am happy to say that $1 from each item purchase is donated to Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven, CT in my dad’s memory.
