Announcement   I make handmade pottery that is beautiful, yet functional. I focus on creating one-of-a-kind pieces (either thrown on the potter's wheel or hand built). Most of my pottery is dishwasher, microwave, and food safe. Each listing delineates the piece's safe uses. A piece of handmade pottery would make the perfect gift for a special occasion, such as a wedding, anniversary or birthday, or just a way of saying I Love You. Handmade pottery brightens your home, and makes entertaining and cooking a pleasure. We also have available a portable, no shim slab roller that has been selling like crazy and has incredible reviews. Check it out!

Updates

We were waiting on materials, but they have arrived. Getting ready to ship 7 slab rollers, 2 are already sold.
Glaze work in the kiln for the final firing. Look at the difference between the freshly glazed piece compared to the glaze fired piece.
Preparing my work to be bisque fired. Be looking for new items in the next couple of weeks.

About

Playing in the Mud

The video is of a wonderful slab roller that my husband designed and built for me. Now it is in production and we are offering them for sale.

In high school, I took pottery classes and fell in love with clay. I bought a potter’s wheel but the only place I had to put it was in a dark, dingy basement, so there it sat. Finally after about a year of it sitting unused, I sold it. Busy with my family and my career, I didn’t play in the mud for many, many years, although it was always something I wanted to get back to. After working at a university in Ohio for 30 years, I retired to Florida. In retirement, I realized that I needed something to do with my time besides fishing (which I love). I soon found an art studio with a great pottery program about a mile from my home. I took classes for about 1 ½ years before buying a potter’s wheel (yet again) and kiln for my home. Now I do pottery in my garage studio, even in the sweltering Florida summers! I love the potter’s wheel, but also enjoy hand building with my slab roller (see video, slab rollers are available for purchase from my shop). Clay is so versatile, the options are limitless and I have fun coming up with new ideas and new designs.

I make most of my glazes and love blues, greens and purples. I don’t like dark dull colors for pottery, so you will find most of my work in very bright colors.

Besides selling on Etsy, I sell my work in a high end local gallery. I have also sold my wares at art fairs and shows, but I find carting pottery too cumbersome, so I prefer to sell in other venues.

I spent 30 years working at the University of Cincinnati, as an administrator. That job is a far cry from the work I do now, making pottery.

Frequently asked questions

Damages

Pottery is fragile. Although I pack everything very well, there are times when a piece will break as I have no control over what happens when the package leaves my hands. If you chose to ship First Class, there is no insurance for lost or damaged items. I am sorry, but for First Class shipped items, there are absolutely no refunds, If you chose to ship Priority Mail, or chose an insurance option, for damaged items, you must contact me within 72 hours of delivery and provide pictures of the damaged piece(s) and condition of the box. If I am not notified within 72 hours of delivery, there will be no reimbursements, and there are no exceptions.

Is this purchase a gift?

If you are purchasing this item for someone else, I am glad to include a gift card with the package. Just let me know when ordering what you would like the gift card to say.

International Shipping

For the smaller items, I give you two options, International First Class or International Priority Mail. With International First Class, there is no tracking or insurance. I highly recommend you also buy the International First Class Upgrade option for $13.95 which will give you tracking and indemnity up to $40. Without this upgrade, I am not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.

You will be able to purchase this item here:

Please convo me if you have any questions.

Purchasing from the EU

If you are purchasing from the EU, I will follow the buyer protection laws.

Shipping Costs for Multiple Item Orders and Large Items

Multiple Item Orders: I use calculated shipping on Etsy and I have found that too often, shipping charges are overstated for multiple item orders. I regularly refund over charges for shipping. If you want a better estimate before you order, please convo me with the exact pieces you want to purchase along with your exact address including zip code.

Large Items: Calculated shipping with Etsy uses USPS. For larger and heavier items, sometimes I can save you money using Fed Ex. If I can save you money with Fed Ex, I will ship Fed Ex and issue a refund to you of the over-charge for shipping.

Returns and Exchanges

The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs (to and from) for returns and exchanges.

First Class Shipping Option

Please Read before choosing the First Class shipping option. Since there is no tracking or insurance with the First Class shipping option, I am not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. There are no exceptions.
