Unique mug. It reminds me of when I was a little girl and in early Spring we would hunt for Morel mushrooms in the woods. My Dad loved them! Good memories. Thank you. And I like your handle. It is easy to hold on to and not too thick or wide.

About

A lifelong journey in clay..

After three decades working with clay, I'm still excited when the kiln lid opens. The clay experiment is still in progress. From the concept on paper, construction and glaze testing. I never stop learning and discovering the diversity of this media. Ceramics is still a pathway to innovation, without forgetting it's value in centuries of tradition.

Right now I'm working with cone 6 stoneware using hand-building and wheel-thrown techniques. Using different colored clay bodies and textures to promote glaze color interest.

If you notice I make lots of teapots functional and nonfunctional. I find teapots fascinating. They have incredible line and movement, reminding me of the human form.

The early years of discovery, experimentation and diving face-first into the ceramic arts were a wonderful time of growth as a person and artist. With practice came confidence and a feeling of license to hone a style I could call my own.

Teapots, whether functional or purely as an expression of art, fascinate me. They are "steeped" in history. Teapots are reminiscent of people, ever changing and full with character and movement.

Thanks for visiting my store. No manufactured work here. I want to make pottery that you can use, take lots of joy from and then set it out for display. Usable art in your home is my challenge.

Additional policies and FAQs
My handmade functional pottery is created from stoneware, then high-fired to (1240 C / 2264 F) to ensure clay vitrification. Vitrified clay is similar to glass-- strong, dense, and watertight. I mix my own glazes to insure all ingredients are food safe and lead free, and my pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.

High-fired stoneware pottery is extremely durable for normal usage and when handled with the care. By following the recommended care instructions below, you should be able to enjoy your pottery for many years to come.

* Ovenware can withstand temperatures up to 450 degrees and is suitable for use in conventional, convection, and microwave ovens.
* Be sure to use oven mitts or potholders when handling.
*Take care to avoid exposing your ovenware to radical temperature changes, which can shock the piece and cause it to crack or break. Such as putting a cold casserole into a hot pre-heated oven, or moving a hot vessel onto a cold surface or into the sink. I recommend setting hot ovenware on a rack or onto potholders or pads when it’s pulled from the oven.
* Allow the ovenware to cool before submerging it into water.
*Ovenware cannot be heated directly on a stove-top.
*As long as the vessel is near room temperature, it can go safely into the refrigerator. Avoid using it in the freezer.

CLEANING YOUR POTTERY
The glazed surface cleans easily, especially after soaking. Nylon and plastic brushes as well as scrubby sponges (those designed for use with Teflon surfaces) are ideal for cleaning the glazed surfaces. Avoid using harsh cleaners such as abrasive powders or strong chemical solutions to clean the glazed vessel. Dish soap and hot water work fine. Dishwasher safe; they do not need to be hand washed if you’d rather have your dishwasher do it for you!

GIFT WRAPPING
My work is often purchased as a special gift . I offer gift wrapping with a special note attached. All you have to do is message me with your request and the service is free.
