The pilot light is lit and you can see the glow of fire in this beautiful picture of our kiln before we shut the door. This was a Shino glaze firing, this mini vase came out of this firing! #pranapottery #etsy #ceramics
Happy holidays! I will be adding many new items every day this week to my store. Many of new pieces I will be adding are new glaze color combinations I've been working on this year! Come visit my shop daily to see my new experiments blush
Ever wonder what the raku process looks like? This is one of our firings at my studio, we open up the kiln with the pieces glowing red hot, pull them out with tongs & place them into bins with hay that catches on fire! Click image to see my raku pieces!

About

Living and Breathing Pottery

My name is Jennifer and I have been creating pottery in both stoneware and porcelain for more than a decade. I graduated with a BA from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Previously studied pottery under Regis Brodie through Skidmore and now study under Jill Fishon-Kovachick at the Saratoga Clay Arts Center. Throwing pottery is a passion I have had and developed since I was a child.

I find great pleasure in experimenting with colors, textures and shapes to create a wonderful hands-on experience for my pieces. I find my inspiration from natural wonders around the world, taking their essence and translating it into the look and feel of my pieces: volcanoes, canyons, sunsets and sunrises.

I enjoy decorating with glazing techniques to create a unique visual experience with each of my pottery pieces. I throw my pottery on the wheel, glazing each piece with care using high-fire, salt fire, Raku or Sagger firing techniques. When creating my pottery I also keep in mind that the simple pleasure of holding and examining artwork of this sort is part of its joy.

Welcome to the Prana Pottery shop!

My name is Jennifer and I have been creating pottery in both stoneware and porcelain for more than a decade. I find great joy in experimenting with glazing techniques to create a unique visual experience with each of my pottery pieces. I throw my pottery on the wheel, glazing each piece with care using high-fire, Sagger or Raku glazing techniques. Some of my pieces are functional and can be used for eating and drinking, while others are purely meant as works of art for display. Each of my pieces are clearly identified as either food-safe, or just meant as a work of art.

When creating my pottery I also keep in mind that the simple pleasure of holding and examining artwork of this sort is part of its joy.

I post new items frequently so please come back and visit!

Additional policies and FAQs
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about a piece.

Raku & Sagger Pottery:
This type of pottery is meant as works of art for decoration. The firing process leaves the pieces porous, so they are not meant for use with eating. They can still be used to hold such things as wrapped candy and chocolate and are beautiful at presenting such things as a table centerpiece. These cannot hold fresh flowers with water, as the water may leak out of the piece because it is porous. Dried flowers are just fine! My Raku and Sagger pieces are lead-free.

High-fire Pottery and Salt Fired Pottery:
This type of pottery can used for both eating out of and as works of art. This type of pottery can hold flowers with water. My high-fire and salt pieces are food safe, microwave & dishwasher safe, as well as lead-free.
