Prettiest vintage and new sewing patterns carefully curated for you...
Welcome to a hand picked pattern collection, each one chosen for its flair, style, history and beauty. Looking for something specific? Use the Search Items box (on top of the last image above and to the right) to search within my shop.
Or browse my shop categories, organized by time periods.
All of my patterns are carefully counted for completeness and the condition of each one is described in full in the listing. Although I rarely list a pattern with missing pieces, if a pattern is rare enough and lovely enough I will do so. Please be sure to read the descriptions!
A note about sizing--sizes change over the years so please refer to the actual measurements given in the listing rather than the sizes. If you want to know more about the pattern, you can find information by using the Zoom feature to enlarge the scan of the back of the envelope (every listing includes a scan of the front and back of the actual envelope you will receive). Or feel free to convo me with any questions.

About PrettyPatternShop
A Carefully Curated Collection
I have always loved museums and history and thrift stores and yard sales. The only difference between a museum and a yard sale is that the museum has been carefully curated to bring forward the story of the life of a place or a people, whereas a thrift store or a yard sale is where all the unwanted things land in a jumble. I like finding those things and bringing them forward. I like the way these cast off sewing patterns tell not only the history of fashion, but the industry and thrift of women raising families, grandmothers sewing for new grandbabies, teenagers learning to sew, excited to make their own outfits just the way they like them, and even men who love the freedom of creating their own clothing. I love counting the pieces of old patterns that were used sometimes 80 years ago, seeing how that seamstress of the past shortened a hem or substituted a collar drafted on a piece of newspaper.
And I love that Etsy makes it possible for me to bring these patterns forward here in a carefully curated collection, to tell the story of the creativity of all those sewers who went before us, and pave the way for those who are at this very moment searching the internet carefully for just the right pattern, just the right style, just the right size. And every single time I happen to be the seller who has that pattern, it makes me happy. With over 8,000 sales in this and my other Etsy shops, that's a lot of happiness!

When I'm not finding, listing or selling patterns, or spending time with my son (we are homeschoolers), I am also a writer. Here's a piece I wrote for my Etsy pattern sellers team blog about how a dress pattern became a critical clue in the solving of a murder in 1867: http://patternpatter.blogspot.com/2016/02/a-pattern-for-justice.html

I'm a writer, a maker, a mother, a wife and a fan of all things lovely and old. I love finding, rescuing, and rehoming these sewing patterns, a bit of history, a bit of mystery, and the power in your hands to make of your wardrobe whatever you wish.
Shop policies
Welcome to Pretty Pattern Shop! Here are the best and brightest, the prettiest vintage and new patterns I've found in my travels, waiting to be discovered and put to use. I look for styles that are unique, beautiful, flamboyant, delicate, fun, and/or that embody the grace of times gone by.
These patterns have often seen a lot of the world before they come into my hands. They have their own histories, and sometimes show their age. I take time with every listing to describe what is special about the pattern, and to make note of any damage it has sustained over time.
I love these gorgeous bits of history and I handle and package them with care so that when they come into your hands, you will love them, too!

Shipping
At present, I am no longer shipping outside the US unless you contact me first and confirm that you are OK with waiting as much as 8 - 10 weeks for delivery of your package. It doesn't always take that long, but it might!
I package all patterns in plastic sleeves and usually use cardstock or backing boards for reinforcement. I use Etsy's shipping tool so you will be notified once your shipping label is generated and a tracking number has been assigned. I will never use a shipping method that requires a signature for delivery unless you specifically ask for one.
Please note that it is the buyer's responsibility to become aware of the customs fees and import taxes of your country. A Value Added Tax is often added in countries within the European Union. This is a fee in addition to customs and handling. This tax is the buyer's responsibility and must be paid before the package can be delivered.
