Before we get into our homemade jam and sewing business, let's give you all a little back story on who we are, what we do, and how thrilled we are to be doing what we love!
It all started at a craft show. We saw a basket of the most adorable cactus-shaped pillows. We live in Arizona and we knew that these little pillows would be so easy to make and if this artisan can sell them then why not us?
An idea turned into action as we decided to start our own Etsy Shop, Prickly Pillows! Some interesting fabric choices, and some pretty terrible photography later we started the shop.
We were mentally and physically prepared to handle the mass quantity of orders. In fact, we were planning on quitting our day jobs! Needless to say, glad we didn't quit... since we had next to no orders!
But hey that's OK, it was just time to branch out with new product ideas, we weren't going to quit on our business that easy! Next came painted wood signs, starfish-shaped pillows, pistachio shell succulents... and still next to no sales.
Most people might give up by now, but not us, we kept trying new things and our next big win was pillowcases! We exploded with sales and felt our business was finally taking off. So much, in fact, we changed our Etsy Shop name to Prickly Pillowcases. But over time it just wasn't enough...
Then my mom, the sewing guru, decided to try out some fabric coasters, a.k.a "mug rugs." It was a little slow at first but then all of a sudden... boom! We found our niche. What's truly amazing about our fabric coasters, is the way they are sewn.
With carefully chosen fabric combos and a sewing technique that allows for decorative trim, elevated our fabric coasters to a quality you just can't find elsewhere!
As you can tell, we aren't afraid to try new things and decided it was time to take another chance on a product our entire family loved more than anything. My grandma's homemade strawberry jam.
When you think of homemade jam, you can always tie it to some wonderful nostalgic memories of grandmas and grandpas, places you lived, or moments you cherish.
We wanted to bring that feeling back to the world! That's where Grandma Chicken's Country Jam evolved. 100% homemade and no-preservatives, just the way grandma used to make it.
So here we are pulling our business together under one roof. Grandma Chicken's Country Market. Where old-fashioned sewing, cooking, and memories are created and shared with all of you.
