Announcement   Thank you for visiting my page, I am truely grateful for your taking the time to stop by to see my work. Like most self taught artists/designers, my beginnings started with somewhat simple ideas, and with each new project I attempt to out-do my previous work until finally I started showing my work off to friends. Eventually I heard about Etsy.com where I never realized there was a site for so many like minded people to show off and sell their work! As you will see, a lot of what I make is Native American influenced. Although I'm not Native American, I have always admired their culture and values in connection with our natural environment from a young age. With that in mind, I view my work as pure art form and in my own way, a tribute to an important and integral part of American history.
I am adding a new section to my shop called "Pat's Corner" My wife has also has been making jewelry and has only sold hers locally. Being the working member of the family her time has been limited as to her creations but she expressed the desire to add to the shop. So stop by her "corner" and leave some love when you get a chance and tell her how she's doing.
Recently, I learned the fine art of silversmithing which is something I've been wanted to do for some time. I'm really excited about adding this new dimension to my work so check back and see what my imagination creates!
I am more than willing to ship outside the U.S. and will adjust the postage accordingly on an individual basis. Also, I'm in the process of adjusting my shipping charges and if you wish to purchase more than one item, contact me and I will adjust the shipping charges if necessary. Please convo me for any additional shipping information. Blessings to you and many thanks!

I LOVE this shop! Ross is such a sweetheart and a pleasure to order from. I love my necklace, it is even more beautiful in person. I was so surprised (my mouth fell open lol) to find matching earrings in the box! Thank you so much, Ross!

About

Welcome to PrimitiveDesignsTX!

I am a self-taught, self-starter and have learned essentially every technique I use on a trial and error basis...with emphasis on a lot of errors! Like many other artists here on Etsy, as I developed and became more confident in my work, I began giving it away as gifts to friends, who in turn urged me to start selling it and here I am.

I don't have a work shop or bench or anything like many. I create wherever is convenient which is normally on a tray or flat surface while watching TV in the living room or where ever the mood takes me.

I make make each piece one at a time with attention to detail and each one is unique and one of a kind. I love to focus my creativity on trying to outdo myself with each new piece. What you see here in my shop is just a portion of my inventory. I still give away some as gifts to friends or donate them to charities for use in fund raising events. Other pieces that I become really attached to and can't bring myself to part with I display as art-deco in my home. Additionally, I recently learned the fine art of silversmithing and I'm really excited to be adding this new dimension to my work

I am both honored and grateful for your visit! I'm always adding new inventory so please keep me in mind and come back often! Wishing you all the best...

Ross

Thank you for visiting PrimitiveDesignsTx. As you can see, most of my designs are much like the style of jewelry created and worn by Native Americans. Although I am not Native American, I have always admired their culture and beliefs which I view as an important and intregal part of American life past and present, and it is not my intention to represent any particular tribe, belief or principle, As some artists view their paints, canvas and paintings, I view the beads as my paints, my ideas the canvas and the final product as my painting. My focus is to keep it simple yet produce a certain elegance with each arrangement. I tend to use only natural color combinations I see in animals, landscapes and natural surroundings using bone, horn, antlers, leather, brass, glass, natural gemstone and other natural elements I find that will fit. Many of the glass beads are trade beads made from recycled glass or other recyclable material. Each piece is tied together using waxed linen cord, simulated sinew of various colors or leather. I also hand cut and hole punch the spacers and end pieces to custom fit each item No synthetic glues or plastics other than recycled are used. I use primarily North American turquoise which I purchase from reputable dealers. In each item description I will identify the type of turquoise by the mine and If not mentioned, more than likely it is Chinese turquoise. I will be happy to provide information for my sources upon request. Please feel free to convo me with any questions.
