About

A House Full of Buttons, Fabrics, and Sewing Machines

I have been collecting buttons my whole life. When I was little, I thought they were pretty coins in all shapes and sizes. To me, they had all the value in the world with stories to tell of the travels they've seen. My grandmother was a great seamstress. While she was watching me, I mimicked her and sewed the scraps together, pretending that I was making beautiful gowns for queens and princesses to wear at balls. Soon, my grandmother was teaching me how to sew. I made doll clothes, hair bows, and decorated my bobbie socks.

When I began this shop here on Etsy, I wanted to find a way to share my love for sewing and creating fashion.

I don't believe in the "one size fits all" approach. Women come in all sizes and the goal of my shop to deliver quality, custom-made clothing that fits the customer.

I watched my grandmother's hands for years. The items in my shop are made from a love my grandmother passed down into me, and I hope that they bring happiness to someone too :)

    Owner, Fashion Designer, Seamstress

I started sewing at a very young age by watching my grandmother sew while she babysat us. I would take fabric scraps and sew them together, making doll clothes and hair bows. Now, there is little I can't make with my hands. Life is good :)

    Designer, Stylist

I was born and raised in Florida and I'm a student at the University of South Florida. Living close to the beaches has influenced my style, but I prefer to always create my own fashions from new and vintage clothing.

I keep the computer working and the camera ready. I move the mannequin around, handle all the shipping. I manage the PayPal account, too.

Hello and thank you for visiting PrincessandQueen, a unique fashions boutique on Etsy. We are a Mother/Daughter team offering unique apparel from junior to plus sizes. We make clothes on sewing machines and by hand from our home.

We also have a love for Vintage Clothing, so please take a look at the interesting vintage items listed. As my Vintage Fashionista Friend says: Recycle with Style - Wear Vintage Clothes.

I am an experienced dressmaker and fashion designer. Many items listed on our site have been designed and created in my home, with my hands and sewing machine. I've been sewing for over 30 years, and it's something that I love to do.

If you have a design vision and need someone to create it for you, then I would be happy to help you. I've made many dresses for hard to fit women, made costumes for parties, done Bridal Work, made school uniforms for the entire school. I am good at resourcing fabrics and always try to keep my prices low, to help my client.

Payment is expected at time of purchase unless other arrangements have been made. I accept PayPal and of course, you can send me a check. I will wait for it to clear my bank account before shipping.

You may cancel an order prior to shipment by notifying me. I understand that situations arise and we all change our minds from time to time.
Shipping
I ship many items for free. If it weighs 13 oz or less, I will ship First Class Mail for free. Heavier items, such as coats, are charged for shipping. I don't charge a "handling fee." All items are shipped with delivery confirmation to eliminate confusion.
Refunds and Exchanges
ALL SALES ARE FINAL once an item is completed and shipped.

I will do my best to describe everything prior to shipping. You are responsible to provide accurate measurements and directions prior to creation of your custom made garment.

Regarding vintage items, vintage is older, pre-worn clothes. I provide an accurate description of its condition, measurements and care instructions for washing. Once the item has been shipped to you (many times it's Free Shipping), I cannot accept returns.

Please ask Any Questions Prior to Purchase. I am willing to help and accommodate so I will respond to your email as quickly as I can.
Additional policies and FAQs
Globalization in fashion industry is at an all time high. There are very few apparel manufacturers left in the USA, and most fashion is assembled in third-world countries under horrific conditions. However, this allows for some items to be mass produced at rock bottom prices, and then sold at discount retailers. This is mass production in the sewing industry. It is not creative, it is not rewarding, it it grueling factory work, and I am glad that I am not a part of it. I am happy to be a part of Etsy where I can make personalized items with my own two hands from start to finish.

I have been told in the past - "I could have purchased this at Wa**m**t for half the price that you charge." Yes, I agree 100%, I don't mass produce Anything !!

My shop makes fashion ... custom made to the measurements of the client. I buy the fabric, cut it out, one skirt or dress at a time, then I pin it and sew it up, based on the measurements provided, and then I add a zipper and/or other required notions, iron it, check all the seams, wrap it up in tissue, and ship it directly to you. This process is time consuming, and the price includes the cost of fabrics and supplies, cost of doing business (paying Etsy and Paypal) and shipping costs. In every order, I include a fair compensation for my sewing skills.

Some people LOVE custom made clothes and are familiar with home sewn construction. I don't own a serger, but I love to zig-zag. I leave a generous seam allowance, because it allows movement to the dress or skirt. I use elastic ... a lot - it's comfortable. I like Facings - it's a Lost Art. I love to combine prints and add trims - because clothes are the artwork of your body and soul and should reflect your personality. I also do real basic stuff, like pleated plaid skirts, because we all have to tow the line in life... go to school, go to work, behave, act accordingly - hah !!

And Finally - there are NOT ENOUGH CLOTHES OPTIONS for plus size people. If you are a size 10, you can walk into a store and have 1,000 options. If you are a size 20, maybe you have a choice of 30 things to buy. I am very happy to make Plus Size Clothes - maybe just something basic . . . OR --- Get Your "Pizazz" on and let me create a Very Special Dress or Blouse or Coat that reflects your personality and spirit.
