Announcement Showing more of my own wearable assemblages, but keeping the vintage oddities going (that is, those Unique Curios that do not get made into Even More Unique Curios by me). This month and next, ramping up for Burning Man with headdresses, tribal jewelry and whatever seems like it might add to the fun.

How much do I love this bee tiara? SO MUCH! It's is perfect for me, the leader of the Toxic Mom Toolkit community. Remember, always wear your invisible crown! Or visible, as the case may be.

She has a wonderful face, different from those I've usually seen in the smaller size Gofun geisha dolls - thanks very much!
A Curious Tale of Vintage Oddities
There is a crack in everything, that is how the light gets in
- Leonard Cohen
Within this shop are imperfectly wonderful things, frequently showing the marks of their long lives and individual stories. Here there be dragons with tattered tails, soldiers fallen in yesterday's playroom battles, curios from the East and things which I haven't myself figured out. If you are looking for objects ugly and beautiful at the same time, you have come to the right place. I enjoy staging small dramas on my tabletop when photographing these odd characters, and love sending them to far off places. One of them is now appearing in a loosely adapted version of MacBeth in New York's Chelsea district.
Besides collecting, I mend and make, joining together odd bits which have met across the years and miles. A telephone receiver my sister found on the street in Budapest is now married to a piece of skirting board I found on the street in San Francisco, along with part of an old painting and some dyed yarn and silk (I embroidered the holes in the receiver with it).
For many years, I had a recurring dream of getting off a bus when I was lost and wandering into a store with the most wonderful old curios - I immediately wanted to share it with a close friend. It is my intention that visitors here have the same feeling I did in those dreams. I hope you will find inspiration here and elsewhere.
