My two custom keychains (one Our Lady of Guadalupe and one Our Lady of Knock) were perfect as Christmas gifts for my mother-in-law and mom. Loved their uniqueness. I plan to order from P&JP again! :)

My key chain of St. Maria Faustina was perfect! It was a gift for my parish's youth min director, and she loved it as well. I'm excited to order again from this shop!

About

Wooden Peg Dolls for Play and Display!

Welcome to my newly open shop, Punch and Judy Pegs! I'm so happy to have you visit. I hand-paint wooden peg dolls to provide natural, open-ended play for little ones as well as offering unique, custom gifts for special occasions.

As a mom to four young children, I am always on the hunt for natural, simple toys that provide the opportunity for imaginative, open-ended play. A few years ago, I stumbled upon painted wooden peg dolls and began creating them for my kids. I then began painting them for nieces and nephews and god-children... and just couldn't stop sharing the joy of a simple wooden peg with those I loved. I'm hoping to share that same joy with you and your loved ones.

I named the shop Punch & Judy Pegs in honor of the joyful, buoyant philosophy of one of my favorite authors, G.K. Chesterton. Chesterton believed that Fairy Tales are true, that Play is serious business, and that being alive is the grandest of adventures. In his autobiography, Chesterton wrote at length on the importance of play, of toys, of imagination, and of childhood on his development. He makes it clear that you will not understand him or his philosophy if you don't understand that all of his travels and successes "mean less to me than Punch and Judy on Campden Hill."
So I hope to paint little wooden pegs to honor his defense of the seriousness of small things, the truth of the imagination, and the momentous value of play.

"It is not only possible to say a great deal in praise of play; it is really possible to say the highest things in praise of it. It might reasonably be maintained that the true object of all human life is play." - G.K. Chesterton

Additional policies and FAQs
Since all items are made to order, please allow 3 weeks for production after your initial order. I will try to ship out earlier if possible, but since I'm painting during nap times and after bedtime, I sometimes need the full production time.

Also, since all my items are hand-painted, there will be slight variations in each item. However, rest assured that each item is lovingly painted with the greatest attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.

All items are made from wooden pegs made in Maine, USA. I use non-toxic acrylic paint and several coats of non-toxic sealer to help the pegs hold up to play by little hands.
