I ordered two of these, as gifts, and they came quickly, each inscribed for the intended person. True to its theme of using paper to craft things, the package was lovingly put together by hand. This was a wonderful buying experience!
"Purgatory Pie Press is a sanctuary for artists, designers and typographers who are seduced by the kiss of type and the touch of metal." -Steven Heller
Purgatory Pie Press is one of the longest running artist/presses.
I am the artistic director, collaborating with founder Dikko Faust and other artists and writers. I write book arts books in addition to hand making limited editions and artist books with Dikko, who hand sets real antique and vintage metal and wood type and letterpress prints letterpress on our Vandercook 4. I design and hand stitch our artist books. Our works are in many international museum collections including MoMA, Smithsonian, Cooper Hewitt, National Gallery, Walker, and the Tate. We have had exhibitions Metropolitan Museum of Art, Victoria & Albert Museum, and Harvard University. Our anniversary exhibition will be traveling to Germany summer 2017.
