Announcement   Hello dear vintage fans, before purchasing please note that my NEXT POSTING DATE IS 1st AUGUST.
. - . - .

Onion (previously know as Purple Pumpkins) is a mixture of vintage pieces I've collected over many years along with new finds from my near constant searching for old and unusual things.

Here you'll find largely vintage lace, ribbon, lace & fabric collars, clothing, glassware, bedding, curtains, linens and weird old bits. I also have some non vintage supply items too.

I have developed great relationships with some mature hoarders (basically me in 30 years time!) who allow me to rehome some of their collections, so if you are looking for something specific get in touch, as I may be able to help you find it.

I also have other stores - of one of a kind accessories & jewellery http://www.sildara.etsy.com
The REAL home of my tea & coffee trios and my handmade sideboard stands for all of your nicknaks, jewellery (or even cakes)
http://www.adoptapott.etsy.com

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful vintage sheet which is eventually going to become a skirt and various other crafty items but for the moment has been appropriated by my six year old 😊. A lovely Etsy shop, thank you for your messages Jennifer. Mim xx

About

Who says old is boring or expensive?

Old has its own story.

My first purchase was from a jumble sale in Devon when I was 5. The tiny dolly for 5 pence was a little old lady, handmade from scraps with a foam hood, long gingham skirt and hand painted face. Whilst largely driven by necessity, I was always encouraged to reuse, recycle and repurpose. It was also pointed out that these items would be one of a kind. So, even at 5, that old lady with a foam hood represented something unique that was just for me, that had been created with care by someone unknown.

I have been collecting since then, some things stay as they are, others are altered. Many of my finds now are with an eye for those who wish to incorporate old into new pieces, or those with a love of specific eras.

It is a privilege to be entrusted with finding pieces for people. And it's fun...

Im interested in how the beauty of an object increases with its age, whether that is as a result of its decay or nostalgia.

Raised to search second-hand shops, antique markets, recycle and create/make the most of what ever you have; I have been collecting (hoarding would be more accurate) since the age of 5.
Onion Vintage brings out of hiding vintage pieces to fill a home much which has been part of my private collection for many years.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Paypal available for all Etsy buyers UK & International!

Please ensure that your payment is made within 48 hours of purchase. If you are having issues, please get in touch. I reserve the right to cancel any unpaid items within this period.
Shipping
I can ship items most days following cleared payment. However, please get in touch before purchasing if your order is urgent to ensure that I can get it to you in time.

Shipping is only by signed for services. Prices are based on weight. LISTINGS DO NOT SHOW COMBINED SHIPPING RATES, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH as it can be very cost effective to combine items.

UK - prices listed are for 2nd Class Signed for. 1st Class and Special Delivery available, please get in touch and I can add this

EU & Rest of the World - parcels going outside of the UK are restricted to 2KG except by courier which can be arranged at cost. MAXIMUM COST for 2kg parcel is £25.50

PLEASE NOTE

Sadly so many international packages that are not signed for are reported missing that it is safer for us both if signed for service is used.

Shipping is for Signed For service which starts at £2.50 domestic and £8.65 outside the UK which then goes up in increments according to weight. As the UK post office system has several means of sending signed for letters/packages and the computer system determines which method it will use (conversation at counter with very friendly PO Master) - I have erred on the side of 'packet post' to ensure that there is sufficient. It is never my aim to profit from postage so if there is a vast difference you will automatically receive a refund of funds.

International buyers are responsible for any customs charges and duty.

A reminder - I cannot be held accountable for an item if it goes missing in the post if you request a non signed for service. Please only purchase if you are in agreement with this policy.
Refunds and Exchanges
Your right to withdraw:

I want you to be confident in your purchase and am happy to answer any questions and send additional pictures prior to sale. I aim to provide as much information as possible and rely upon the honesty of those from whom I have purchased over the years.

As a rule I do not accept returns or make refunds unless an item is faulty (this does not cover some breakages - please see glass wear and ceramics below) All items listed will be well photographed and described. With the exception of custom orders which include cut to order lengths of lace, ribbon and trims, if are not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it to me within 14 days of receipt in undamaged/pre-sale/unworn condition, and I will refund its price to you upon receipt. (Return postage should be via a signed for service as per the original purchase) I do not refund the original shipping, return shipping costs or any customs expenses. Should any customs charges be levied against me for a returned item it will be deducted from the item value and the balance refunded.

GLASSWARE AND CERAMICS are unfortunately uninsurable with the postal system. I want items to reach you in good condition and take great care & much time packing these items for shipping. To date, I've never had a breakage although I have had parcels arrive damaged the goods inside have remained in tact. Glassware and ceramics are purchased and shipped at buyers risk. However, I will do all I can to minimise that risk in packaging.
Additional policies and FAQs
Cut to order lengths of trim, fabric, ribbon etc are regarded as a CUSTOM ORDER and are non returnable.

Please get in touch before purchasing if you have an unconfirmed Paypal address.
