5 out of 5 starsWonderful hiking skirt! And yes, I tested it out on a long hike. The pockets are PERFECT—one on each side, secure positioning so that nothing falls out, and big enough that I could stick phone, wallet, and keys all in there. The fabric is light, best suited for warmer weather unless you wear it over leggings. Overall, an excellent product, glad I bought it. On sizing, I have a 30.5" waist, and the "medium" fit perfectly. Note that the elastic waist will ride up to your true waist (thinnest part of the torso). The hem hit 3" above the knee.

5 out of 5 starsI am awaiting the T shirt I ordered to be worn with this skirt. So as yet my daughter has not been given it. It looks like a good product.

5 out of 5 starsI’ve been wearing skirts for hiking, active wear and daily wear instead of pants or shorts for over 20 years. This has quickly become one of my favoriteskirts. The length is perfect. I love the pockets!

5 out of 5 starsFits well, is very comfortable and has enough length to be discreet. Good leg movement and very lightweight so should be good for the upcoming hot weather here in Oz. It feels a little weird initially having your sweaty thighs touch together (which I dont notice in shorts) but you do get used to it. I wouldnt however recommend a skirt if you get chaffing unless you put shorts underneath (which would negate the airflow). I think I will wear it a lot. Havent washed it yet and not sure how it will hold up on harder trails. I dont think it would be suited to climbing as the fabric looks too light and may possibly rip if you have to sit down on rocks to clamber down. Only downside is this was a little pricier than I would normally pay but I couldnt find anything else like it around

Necessity is the mother of invention
We all have those specific events in our life that will forever affect how we view the world. One of mine was thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2012. Leaving my identity behind and taking on the trail name of Purple Rain I learned simplicity, peace, and perseverance. It taught me that I didn't have to follow the traditional life path. This is my attempt to make my own in the world. While on trail, I desired comfortable practical clothes. Upon researching such items post trail I quickly found most designs were expensive and just not what I was looking for. My original design was tested on the Pacific Crest Trail in summer 2013 and I knew I was on to something. Fine tuning sewing techniques and many fabric tests later, the Purple Rain Hiking Skirt was born.
I hope you also enjoy the freedom I have found in these skirts.

Thanks for checking out my hiking skirts. I am Purple Rain, Appalachian Trail thru-hiker extraordinaire class of 2012. These skirts were inspired by backpacking, exploring nature and a love of all things simple. All skirts are handmade by me, tried, tested, and trail approved! I source my fabrics from local outdoor company factory seconds. Meaning, my selection varies as to what is available at the time. I will strive to always offer a sleek aesthetic with the occasional dash of funk. No pink leopard print here!
I welcome all feedback and suggestions as I fine tune my design. I am new to this Etsy game so please ask questions!
Keep it simple folks, put it in your pocket and let's go hiking!
