About

It's all for them.

Where to it all began is hard. I grew up watching my Aunt Diane (dad's sister) and My Grandpa Herbie (mom's dad) sew. My Aunt made drapes and my Grandpa did auto and marine upholstery. The only formal lessons I had were in junior high home economics class. Fast forward a few years, after college I moved to Florida and found a job in the costume department for a semi-professional summer theater. I learned so much in the almost 3 years I worked there.

I became a stay at home mom when my oldest was two and a half, mostly because we were expecting baby number 2 and day care was too expensive. Then we decided to homeschool before oldest son would have started kindergarten.

It wasn't until my sister's wedding that I actually began to think about sewing for extra cash. I made the bride's maids dresses and my mom's dress for the wedding and received lots of complements. Then friends started asking for alterations and items they'd seen my boys with. They started telling their friends and suddenly I'm earning a little extra for my family doing alterations.

The sewing machines came next. I started with a 10 year old Brother which is now in sewing machine heaven. I now have two 40+ year old Kenmores, a 60 year old Singer, a 20 year old Simplicity, and a serger. I'll be adding an industrial machine later this year and hoping for an embroidery machine soon. When I added the first Kennie and the oldest Singer, my husband said I better use them or they'd have to find a new home.

The business really began with the first Harley Quinn purse. I sold one on eBay and thought about doing more, but eBay wasn't the way to sell handmade goods. With two small kids and hubby working full time, craft shows weren't really an option either. I knew about Etsy, but it took another year after that first purse before I was really ready to make sewing a real business.

The inspiration for my items come from the people around me. The comic and superhero inspired items are all for my guys. They love their superheroes and my youngest son is always asking for something with Batman or Spiderman on it. The kitchen items are all me. I love to bake and the kitchen is the heart of the home. My mixer really is the centerpiece of my kitchen. Sometimes, the fabric itself will inspire the item it will create. I'll find a remnant or a print that calls to me and even without knowing what to make from it, I'll bring it home and look at it for a while. Eventually, the fabric speaks and an item is created.

Many thanks goes to my great friends and supportive family.

My thanks also to you for reading this and stopping by my shop. I hope you see something you like and if you don't see exactly what you're looking for, send me a convo and I'll do my best to help you.

Hi, I'm Kim. I'm the one dressed as Harley Quinn. :) I've been sewing since I was little and only recently decided to make a business of it. My guys are my inspiration and once in a while my helpers.

Thank you for stopping by my Etsy shop.

I've been sewing almost my whole life. I started making Barbie clothes when I was 7 or 8 years old and never really considered it a way to earn a living until after college. I spent two years working in the costume department of a local summer theater and it reawakened my enjoyment for fabric crafts and sewing. Since then I've acquired three sewing machines, 2 of which are more than 40 years old, and a serger. I'm hoping to add an embroidery machine to the collection in the next year or so.

I am my own worst critic, so the only items you'll see in my shop are ones that I feel are worthy of being sold. I've abandoned projects halfway through and started over when I felt them going badly and I think it's important to learn from mistakes even if it means needing to start over. I hope you'll be just as satisfied with my products as I am.
