LOVED the scent on the Aftershave sample I have, but i just cannot get a good lather out of this soap. I have tried with different brush types, and all of my lathers end up very airy and dissipate on my face. It's very slick, but gives virtually no protection. Perhaps i'm using it wrong.

The deodorant smells amazing. It has a strong scent of Tiaré -so your armpits smell like a Tahitian garden. So 5 stars for the smell. I love it. The formulation is quit oily though (too much castor oil and shea butter?) and leaves stains on shirts, making the armpit area quite dark. Would recommend this more if you wear dark shirts instead of white ones. You have to use a lot of baking soda and scrub to get the stains out in the wash. Which is ironic because it's missing from the deodorant- which would keep you dryer. I understand some people are allergic to baking soda, but for those of us who aren't maybe the option of it being in it would help. It's also not as effective in keeping stink free by the end of day as some other deodorants sold on Etsy. That being said, I chose this for the scent and it's fabulous.

A "Puur" Dream Come True!

In the summer of 2010; I was a new mom to my fifth child, Elvis and struggling to make it all work. Our growing family along with our one income meant that I had to get creative to make ends meet. I had started cloth diapering, making everything from scratch including baking bread several times a week; and was always on the lookout for ways to further cut costs.

I had a two year old at the time; Dorian; who had a propensity for pouring out full bottles of shampoo and baby wash. I've always used natural bath products (Burt's Bees was my favorite) and a bottle of baby wash was quite expensive for our budget. One day, after ANOTHER bottle was poured down the drain by Dorian; I said, "I need to start making this stuff!". I did some online research and found a recipe for baby shampoo that involved grating down castile soap and diluting it. After realizing that the castile soap in itself was expensive; I decided to try to "cut out the middleman" and make it myself. I went to my local library and checked out the book, "The Complete Soapmaker" by Norma Coney.

I gathered my supplies gradually and bought thrift shop equipment. From the first batch; I was hooked! In December; I had amassed so much soap (more than we could use) that my sister suggested that I might sell it on Etsy. I had never heard of etsy! After figuring out packaging, labels, and shipping (and borrowing a computer and a camera because I had neither) I opened my shop on December 14, 2010. At the time, I thought if just ONE person purchased from me, I would have made it!

I'm now a member of the Handcrafted Soapers' Guild; and my little hobby has turned into a business that involves wholesale, online, and retail. I could have never imagined that I would have created over 400 items for sale. Everything is made from scratch, with my experimenting and developing the formulas and my husband and son helping out with production and shipping.

My business has been such a blessing to my family and most of all to me. I have been able to explore my creativity and find that inner entrepreneur that was there all along. I have also had amazing opportunities as a result of my business. In April of 2015, I was thrilled to be invited to attend Etsy's IPO day in NYC, where I along with fellow sellers rang the opening bell on Nasdaq and then spent a fabulous day selling in person in Times Square. This Idaho girl made it all the way to the Big Apple!

Now I have acheived my dream of having PuurBody become a true family enterprise, with my 16 year old son helping part time and my husband lending a hand.

Even though I have had more than one stranger order from me, it still is amazing to me. And the line that is printed on my packing slips, "Every order helps our dreams come true" is something that I truly mean. Thank you for reading!

8/16- I just opened a sister shop to Puur called GhostTownShoppe

Custom and personalized orders

My lip balms and guest size soap make great party favors or corporate gifts. I would love to work with you to make your event great!

What kind of soap do you make?

PuurBody soap is hot process soap, made from scratch in our workshop. Using pure vegan oils, I handcraft my soap in small batches. The finished product is gentle and non-drying because it contains all the natural glycerin.

Does your soap contain lye?

Yes and no. No really! Like all true soap, lye is the magic ingredient that turns oils and fats into PuurBody soap. But after the saponification process, the lye is no longer present, it just does its magic and leaves behind creamy, bubbly, nice-smelling...soap!

Does your deodorant contain baking soda?

Does natural deodorant REALLY work?

It does! Unlike commercial antiperspirants, it doesn't keep you from sweating, but it does create a barrier on the skin that keeps odor and wetness at bay. The clay and arrowroot powder absorb wetness to keep you dry and comfortable. There is an adjustment period during which you may need to reapply during the day. After your body adjusts, you should be able to apply Puur deodorant once and have it last all day. YMMV!
