About

Too Much of a Good Thing!

I live in a historic 80 acre neighborhood in Indianapolis and we have a legendary annual yard sale called the Woodruff Place Flea Market where everyone sells junk on the same day to raise money to help maintain our historical prettiness. In 1989, I branded my own Woodruff Place Flea Market sale "Quality Junk," and, for 25 years, destashed my studio - and lots of personal stuff - as part of this Greatest Spectacle in Neighborhood Yard Sales. I decided to continue this cleaning process everyday by having this shop.

I have been collecting - and using - vintage textile supplies for my entire life. In fact, many of the items for sale now were new when I acquired them. I am realistic about my collection and sometimes I realize that if I've owned something for long enough that it is "vintage" now, I may never intend to use it. I have also shifted my interests regarding fabric crafting throughout my life, so I rotate old supplies out to make room for things I am more likely to use. Contrary to popular opinion, not all crafters are hoarders, although I feel like one when my collection grows more than I intended. I have a personal connection with my collection, so I take extra care when presenting it for sale. I always check patterns for completeness and measure fabrics carefully. I include all of the information I am aware of in the descriptions. During the 50+ years I've been a maker I've learned a lot including points that are important for a person to know when considering a particular supply. I also studied clothing and textiles at a university and have returned to college to study social psychology. I am particularly interested in clothing and culture and in fashion psychology.

I also have a shop on Etsy where I sell things made from some of the cool vintage and salvaged supplies I collect. Visit http://www.etsy.com/shop/baisebeige for Unique Handmade and Vintage Clothing and Textiles!

Additional policies and FAQs
Because of the one-of-a-kind nature of the items in this shop, there are no custom orders available. However, I do collect vintage items constantly and may have some items similar to what you see in my shop. Please do inquire about specific vintage textile supplies you are seeking and I may be able to help you with that from my very awesome lifetime collection of QualityJunk or may be able to put you in touch with someone who does sell these things.
