Ik ben Quiet Shelf Studio begonnen omdat ik steeds de kunst aan mijn muren wilde veranderen, maar het te duur vond om elke keer dat ik iets zat was, 40 tot 80 dollar uit te geven aan een nieuwe print. Dus ben ik mijn eigen prints gaan maken: ik zocht scans met een hoge resolutie van kunstwerken in het publieke domein, bewerkte ze, corrigeerde de kleuren en paste ze aan de standaard frameformaten aan.
Vrienden begonnen naar de bestanden te vragen. Daarna vrienden van vrienden. Uiteindelijk leek het logischer om ze gewoon op Etsy te zetten en iedereen te laten pakken wat ze wilden.
Alles in de winkel is met zorg geselecteerd; ik gooi niet zomaar elke scan die ik vind in een lijst. Ik kies de afbeeldingen die er thuis, afgedrukt en ingelijst, ook echt goed uitzien, test de kleuren en zorg ervoor dat de resolutie ook op grotere formaten goed blijft. Als het er aan de muur niet goed uitziet, komt het niet in de collectie.
Het doel is simpel: mooie kunst aan je muren zonder de hoge kosten.
I started Quiet Shelf Studio because I kept wanting to change the art on my walls but couldn't justify spending $40-80 on a new print every time I got bored of something. So I started making my own, finding high-resolution scans of public domain artwork, cleaning them up, color-correcting them, and formatting them for standard frame sizes.
Friends started asking for the files. Then friends of friends. Eventually it made more sense to just put them on Etsy and let anyone grab what they wanted.
Everything in the shop is curated by hand, I don't just dump every scan I find into a listing. I pick the pieces that actually look good printed and framed at home, test the colors, and make sure the resolution holds up at larger sizes. If it doesn't look right on a wall, it doesn't make the cut.
The goal is simple: good art on your walls without the markup.
