Announcement   *This time of year I hit the road and get to meet all kinds of beautiful, sparkly, enlightened people! During these week long journies I can't fill orders but I will get on it as soon as I return. Made to order items may need a little more time too. I will send a note to let you know the status as soon as I am able. Some venues have terrible wireless service. Please check these dates if this is an issue! Thanks!

Upcoming Festivals and Shows:
Sari bias cut skirts and kimono jackets will be the new items this year!
Next up:
*July 17-25 Rootwire Festival, Athens OH
www.rootwirefest.com

*August 28 - Sept 5: Peace of Mind, Halifax PA
https://www.facebook.com/events/1864828170404664/

*September 20-25 S.H.A.R.E., Shade Gap PA

*September Luna Lights. Still waiting for approval

Already passed:
April: Some Kind of Jam , Schuylkill Haven, PA
May: S.H.A.R.E., Shade Gap PA

Notes on Tarot Sets:
Because I source materials from various sources that are being recycled or salvaged it means that sari linings, *some* beads and cords I use can't be replaced. With saris even colors are hard to get sometimes. I do my best to match the mood and the color of the tarot bags, over-dying when needed. The quality and value are never compromised. Please send a note if this is a concern.

If you see something you like but not in the exact way you wish, just ask!
At least half of what is sent out of Free Spirit Sewing is Custom Ordered. Allow 2 weeks for completion but I almost always send within a week. Feel free to check my reviews! Every item that I send out is of the best quality and matched to your specifications with the ultimate care.

I quilt, design my own patterns, dye fabrics, make my own stamps, paint, and whatever it takes to achieve any crazy idea that comes my way, whether it’s from my own imagination or someone else's.

About

A little bit about my journey...

Free Spirit Sewing is my way of living my life in the most productive way I can while being happy to wake up and get to work each day. It started very slowly with quilt making 9 years ago. I slowly expanded my work to showcase my designs that I was afraid to make public. I subscribe to ideas of the Old Religion and a combination of other esoteric belief systems and it's only been in the past 5 years that it is more accepted. Before that there was a lot of fear amongst the general public because there was a lack of understanding. We have entered yet another "new age" and a whole new and larger generation of like minds have spoken up! I'm grateful for that because my soul is truly free now.

In 2014 I accepted an invitation to vend at a festival style reunion called S.H.A.R.E. and it was a game changer. I showed up with just my small inventory and members helped me out with a canopy and lights. The response was so great I went back again the next time. Last year I expanded to a different festival and it was a small success; enough for me to take the leap this year. I got a minivan and applied for and was accepted into 4 festivals for the 2017 season.

There are new ideas for the shop too. I will be adding sections that reflect the different areas of my creative pursuits:
- Festival wear
- Past Lives Revived: Thrift finds that need repair, will benefit from dye and/or applique or other embellishments
- More hats like steampunk and fantasy
These are items I'm already selling at festivals but haven't really put up in the shop yet.

The festival booth has been upgraded. I purchased grid walls and out-facers for hanging clothing, hats and bags. I hang saris that have yet to be cut for use... And.... I got my hands on a magnificent gold fainting couch! It's a huge attraction for selfies among festival goers!

I've been finding ways to use art for fundraising in the past year. A highlight of this past S.H.A.R.E. reunion was a memory quilt that we created and raffled off. We raised $631 in $1 tickets to benefit Lancaster Against Pipelines.
See their story here: http://www.wearelancastercounty.org/
Last December we helped a group of friends gather supplies and sent them off to Standing Rock in North Dakota to assist with the protest against DAPL. There were marches and a few fundraisers where I donated original art tapestries for silent auctions and a banner that was added to Flag Row.

I work out of a small room of my home in Amity Township Pennsylvania that I customized with a wall of built in shelving for all my supplies. No one knows for sure when it was built but the earliest map we've seen with the property is dated 1875. It's a farm house with gingerbread woodwork on the porch and a Victorian iron fence in the front. It was a DIY project that took a decade to fix up.

I'm proud to say that each year this micro business has continued to grow. I am very grateful to Etsy for this platform to run a small business as a beginner with a low budget and most of all my wonderful, colorful, vibrant, kind, truly amazing and soulful clients!

Hey, thanks for being YOU. You're amazing.
Warmest Blessings,
Barbara
