Saw a ring like this when I was in Australia. Was disappointed I didn't get it at the time, so was very happy to find it in Etsy!

About

Life-long creative hands

As a creative type; I've costumed, painted, built, renovated, re-used, recycled, designed, sewn, glued, carved, drilled, sanded, stapled, printed.... you name it! There's always a project (or 6) on the go, whether for my friends and loved ones, or my wonderful customers! Now, as my main focus, I'm loving the creative opportunities to build and share fun and unusual things with others.

I now sell my wares in a wide variety of places, including around my hometown, local and interstate festivals, events and stores. Travelling "out bush" to sell at festivals is one of my favourites, and there are some great people to meet too!

Trades are Welcome. Please feel free to ask about any piece in stock. Happy to trade for materials, parts, finished pieces... you name it, I'll consider it. :)

Custom items always a welcome request, so feel free to contact me with any inquiry...

    Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator

I've been a builder and maker ever since I could hold materials... Formerly a career horticulturalist, ill health caused a huge change in my life, so now I create full-time instead. One of my greatest joys in when a piece is enjoyed by someone else.

For the hands and mind behind Quirkville, vintage, recycled and unexpected materials provide challenge and inspiration regularly.

Supplies are collected from a wide range of global sources and include op-shops, second hand stores, beaches, flea markets, forests, antique stores and outlets of reclaimed materials. Mixed with other ingredients including colourful and fascinating dichroic glass, embroidery, semi-precious gems and pearls, bones and natural finds, her creations are truly unique and one of a kind.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
If commissioning an item, I require a 50% deposit to cover the startup costs for your project. This is non-refundable except in very extenuating circumstances. Please contact me if you need to discuss this
Shipping
Australia Post (our only national and international postal carrier) has now put up their prices to start at $16 for overseas shipping. ($25 and upwards if you want tracking or anything else.)
I loathe charging this amount, especially for smaller items, however, I simply cannot absorb the cost of postage. This is a one-woman show, and I work on a tiiiiiiny budget.

I make no profits from shipping. I only just cover most of my own costs associated with international postage. If your postage is more than $1 in difference to what has been paid, I will return the difference through PayPal.

Most pieces are shipped 'standard' Australian Post, unless registered post has been arranged with me prior to purchase. Quirkville is NOT responsible for items that go missing in the post. We will make every effort to get your item/s safely to you, but given how many other sets of hands postal items go through, we cannot be responsible for unexpected losses.

We will replace or re-create something for those who approach reasonably and politely about the situation.
Refunds and Exchanges
Refund is usually available through reasonable, polite and open discussion.
Please convo me through the store.
Additional policies and FAQs
Bronze has become a passion of mine. I love working with it, the colours, the strength and resilience of the material, the possibilities...

My interest originally started as I sought an alternative to silver, being painfully allergic to the stuff means that much of the wonderful assortment of Artisan jewellery out there simply isn't wearable for me. After being inspired by great pieces of work by some of my favourite creators, I started to dabble my feet in the pool of possibility.

I enjoy creating a variety of pieces, most built to withstand a busy life. Although, occasionally more delicate pieces do happen. I use only high quality, nickel-free components, and shop from fellow artisans and independent crafters for what I don't fabricate myself. All pieces are torch-soldered with a silver, lead and nickel-free solder, no glueing here!

Bronze can sometimes leave green marks around where it is worn, which concerns some people. However, this marking can easily be washed off with a little soap and water, or will come off naturally the next time you shampoo your hair. It doesn't do you any harm, and is merely a reaction between the copper content of the metal and your skins oils and water, or sweat. Given the versatility, beauty and strength of the material, I figure a little greening is well worth it for a piece that can be worn and enjoyed every day. Either that, or you can seal the surface with a range of waxes, polishes or varnishes.

Many thanks for stopping by this corner of the internet, and I hope you'll take the time to wander through the shop and check out my pieces.

Best wishes,
~ nel
