Emitto Styx Personal Infusers are simple, and easy to use!

The design works simply. You apply the essential oil of choice to the organic paper filter, place it inside your Emitto, then breath in! No mechanisms to break, no heat that destroys precious plant constituents, and most importantly... no hassle! You can use the mouthpiece end to breath the oil in through your mouth, or flip the Emitto around to the filter side to breath the oil in through your nose like an aromatherapy inhaler! Or attach a cord of your choice to your Emitto and wear it around your neck as a personal diffuser. Whatever your personal need is, Emitto Styx are there to support you in breathing safe, clean, air!

Pull out one filter and gently peel the paper wrapper open from the exterior. Gently loosen/fluff the paper that was tightly pressed together inside the filter, then loosely wrap the outer paper back around, and place it in the wooden end of your Emitto. Once the filter is inside the Emitto, it is time to add your essential oil! When you use a filter for the first time, we recommend using 3-4 drops of a softly scented oil to fully saturate the filter, so as not to overdo your senses! Some nice oils to start with are: Orange, Lemon, Copaiba, Frankincense, Black Spruce, Stress AwayTM, ValorTM, KidPowerTM, Peace & CalmingTM, or Vanilla. Keep in mind a powerful oil like Peppermint, or Eucalyptus usually only requires one drop!

We only re-apply oils every 2-5 days on average. Although some people prefer to re-apply more often. It’s totally up to you!

We recommend you plan to use your filter for an average of 1 week, or four filters a month. So plan to go through about 52 filters per year. We currently offer a Care Kit in our Accessories section here on Etsy, that includes filters for up to 6 months, along with some other items we have found useful in keeping our Emitto Styx looking as gorgeous as they day they came off the lathe!

The simple answer is no. But if you personally prefer to do so, there is no reason not to. We find that the oil evaporates enough in 24-48 hours, that we do not feel the need to change the filter with each application.

We do not recommend the use of carrier oils, or resinous/thick oils such as vetiver, myrrh or clove as they tend to clog the filter. In small amounts in blends they seem to be fine.

Please do your research prior to choosing an essential oil brand for use in Emitto Styx. We created these infusers for use with the highest quality, therapeutic grade oils in mind. Fragrance oils should never be used in Emitto Styx.
