This skirt is even more beautiful in person than I expected. It inspired me today when it arrived, and I really needed it! I'll have to have it altered slightly but I knew this before ordering it and Maresa communicated with me around sizing with honesty. I foresee more Resa dresses in my future!

I didn't realize the fabric was polyester.

Remarkable beauty - To match your own

♥ Individual dresses
♥ Always handmade
♥ Custom orders available

In Summer 2010 Maresa began to make gorgeous maxi dresses using Indian and Japanese fabrics. Each dress was a one-off piece, offering customers something individual, made outside of a factory environment. Etsy became the ideal market place for Resa Smith dresses, where customers understand this handmade approach and appreciate the use of vintage fabrics.

The Exchange Project
Since selling lots of dresses to friends, and sending many overseas, Maresa grew her vision. This autumn she spent 3 weeks in Kerala, India, teaching a small group of women western and advanced sewing techniques. These women now work part time as freelance seamstresses for local customers and for small Resa Smith orders. We called this 'The Exchange Project'. The Exchange is about receiving a piece of beauty - a handmade dress to feel amazing in whilst sowing into its origin: a place where women can experience a fuller, richer quality of life by earning their own money for their families and community.

With the help of friends several sewing machines were donated enabling this project to ignite. Many other friends helped Maresa make it all the way to Kerala, the southern tip of India! Resa Smith will continue to grow 'The Exchange Project' by teaching others perhaps in other parts of India, and ensuring that the women who have been taught continue to earn through sewing and put the machines to good use!
