Have a quick read, don't worry it's short and not too boring!
First things first, the name R JACK (pronounced Are Jack) is basically the first initial of my family, R=Ruby, J=Joseph, A=Antony (Tony) me, C=Chloe, and K=Katy my wife.
The logo I designed to be a rough image of Durham Cathederal, our hometown and one of the most beautiful images in the world.
I left school at 16 and trained as one of the last ever proper apprentices to become a time served carpenter at Durham County Council. I then became a partner and later director along with my Dad in the family business where we manufactured adventure play equipment. For 18 years I designed and manufactured nearly everything wooden and sometimes not, at the firm until we went our separate ways at the beginning of 2012.
Having always wanted a CNC router (but not being able to afford one) I started scrolling the internet and basically stumbled upon Laser cutting and engraving on YouTube. After a bit of research I bought a machine in the summer of 2012.
Along with learning how to use the machine I also had to teach myself how to draw with CAD. There's been ups and downs, frustration and elation but I hope that the combined efforts have paid off and you like what I do.
Thanks
Tony
