Our mission is to offer hand crafted wedding bands and rings that are beautiful and affordable.

SIZING - Please take care to get your finger sized properly, by a jeweler, as we do not re-size our rings. I measure ring size by using where the center of the ring shank rests on the sizing mandrel. This is an industry wide standard for bench jewelers.

Wide rings, 8-12mm, will fit more snugly than the average mens band which is 4-6mm, so you may have to add 1/2 size or more to your size. Many sizers used for men are 4-6mm wide, giving you the correct size for a ring of that width. My advice it to go to a jewelry store and try on a ring that is the same width as the ring you want to make sure that it is a comfortable fit.

In our experience, customers who purchase bands that are 9-10mm wide order them 1/4 to 1/2 size larger than their normal ring size. By normal, we mean the size that fits when using a 4-6mm wide ring sizer or band. When in doubt, go to a jewelry store and try on a band in the size and width you want to order. While this might be time consuming and inconvenient, it can save you money, time and aggravation.

I do not re-size rings, in most cases. If I am able to re-size your ring, a fee will apply, depending upon the construction of the ring. If your ring is silver with gold on top, the gold will burn off during the soldering process and have to be replaced, making this a more expensive repair than a purely silver ring.

Many jewelers will resize sterling silver rings and you can have your local independent jeweler re-size a ring that doesn't fit.

I CANNOT issue a refund for rings ordered in the wrong size.

Please convert your ring size to US. There are many charts available online to do this. Examples are below.

PRODUCTION TIME FOR CUSTOM RINGS IS 5 WEEKS. We ask you to allow 5 weeks, but in most cases, your ring will ship in 2-3 weeks. Convo me if you need it sooner, as rush fees apply.

RUSH - please confirm with me that we can rush your order before paying the rush fee of $75.

Wedding bands are considered a custom order and I cannot issue a refund for rings ordered in the wrong size. I am happy to provide photos for any custom design so you can approve the work before you pay for it. Please convo me if you want to review a photo OR tell me in the Notes to Seller box during checkout.

I make each band after you place your order. I do not have an inventory of different sizes for different designs so I cannot easily make exchanges or refunds. If you feel that the ring you received does not look like the photograph in the listing, please contact me so we can come to a mutually acceptable solution.

Once you order a custom ring, you have 48 hours in which to cancel your order for a full refund. After that time, we will keep 15% of the total price, plus the cost of any gemstones that we had to order specifically for your ring.

Once again, I cannot issue a refund for custom rings ordered in the wrong size. I also generally do not re-size rings.

I take custom orders and am happy to give you a rough estimate if you convo me with your request. Please bear in mind that time spent on research, convos, design, photographs etc. play a part in the over all cost. Other factors are:

RISING PRICE OF MATERIAL In many cases, I've purchased gemstones and gold or silver back when the price was considerably lower than today. Jewelry made with materials that I bought 3-4 years ago will be lower priced than the same piece being made today.

OLD INVENTORY If a piece is not getting a lot of attention, I will reduce the price over time to try and move it out of inventory. Unfortunately, I cannot make a version of a discounted piece for the same price.

SHIPPING and OTHER COSTS Once I find what I need, I have to spend additional money on expedited international shipping (my favorite vendors are in the UK, India and Thailand). And, in many cases, I have to buy more material than I need for a single piece - for instance, I have to buy a 16 inch strand even if I only need a couple of inches worth of beads.

TIME spent on estimates, design, sketch and photography, locating materials and convos will be reflected in the cost of a custom piece.

The project needs to be defined, i.e., type of design, materials, budget. Then, I will work up an estimate. If necessary, I will take photos or do a sketch. Once that price and piece are agreed upon, customer pays at least 50% up front, with the final payment due before the piece is shipped.

Returns and exchanges
Each ring (except those in stock) is made to your specifications and is considered custom. RusticFORMen does not have dozens of rings in all sizes and styles so we cannot exchange your ring for another or issue a refund without incurring a substantial loss of time and money. Custom orders (i.e. wedding bands) cannot be returned for refund or exchanged for other merchandise. Please contact me if there is a problem and I will do my best to work with you to resolve the issue.

We do not accept returns for rings ordered in the wrong size and we do not offer re-sizing.

Many jewelers will re-size sterling silver rings and you can have your local independent jeweler re-size a ring that doesn't fit. Be sure to tell him or her if the ring has been oxidized, as they will have to re-size and re-finish the entire ring.

If you do not like the appearance of your ring, please contact us immediately. We work hard to make sure you are satisfied and will always do what we can to modify a piece, if necessary. If a solution cannot be agreed upon, we will refund the cost of the item (but not the shipping costs) if it is returned un-used in original packaging within 10 days of receiving it. RusticFORMen does not issue refunds for items that are not returned in a timely manner. Mail returned items to:

RusticFORMen is not responsible for delays or problems that occur once your package is in the hands of the United States Post Office. We cannot control or afford to make our customers "whole" when circumstances like weather, carrier error, theft, customs delays etc. cause delays or loss.***

We ship First Class with tracking to orders within the US. We also offer Priority, Priority Express, and insurance for additional fees.

For pricing on other shipping services such as UPS and FedEx, please convo us with your address and timeframe.

***Hot Rox & RusticFORMen uses the United States Post Office (USPS) for shipping and will provide you with a tracking number for your package. If your package is delayed, lost or stolen, please contact the USPS using your tracking number for identification. has guidelines for all situations on their website. We are happy to provide you with a receipt if needed but we do not have the manpower to investigate situations of lost, delayed or stolen packages.

INTERNATIONAL - Currently, we ship to USA, Australia, and Canada. As of August 10, 2016, we no longer ship to any other countries because of numerous past issues with customs delays and lost packages.

We use USPS Priority International* which takes 6-10 business days and does NOT have tracking. You will be provided with a Customs number. We will ask for your telephone number after you place your order. Please provide it as it will be printed on the postage label and enable your local post office to contact you, if necessary. If you do not provide us with a telephone number we will use our own telephone number.

If the tracking on your package states that the status is “Delivered” and you have not received it, it is likely at your local post office. Please call them before contacting us. Likely, they are holding your package until VAT is paid. We are not responsible for paying any duty, taxes, VAT or fees. Please be prepared by finding out what the laws are in your country before making a purchase.

When an international package is slow in arriving, it is usually delayed in Customs. Unfortunately, we do not have any way to locate your package or predict how long it will be in customs. Our resources are the same as yours - we suggest you use the Internet to locate the telephone numbers of your local post and/or customs office and follow up with them. Your Customs number will have letters at the beginning and the end. This number is used by Customs and the USPS for identification.

For a quote on shipping with either UPS or FedEx, please convo us with your address and timeframe. Usually, these carriers charge $80-$100 for a guaranteed 2 day delivery to most countries outside the US.
Additional policies and FAQs
OXIDATION is not permanent. While I use a commercial lacquer over my oxidized rings, the lacquer and oxidation will wear off. In some people it wears off quickly - in others, it comes off slowly, changing the appearance of the ring over the course of months.

Skin oils, perspiration and soaps will take off the oxidation more quickly.

Oxidation does not make your skin turn colors when it comes off.

You can oxidize at home with liver of sulphur. Drop a bean sized portion in about 1 cup of hot (but not boiling) water. Then dip your ring (make sure it is clean and dry). You can hold it and watch it turn from golden brown to reddish blue to teal to gray. The texture in the rings allow for different areas to oxidize at different rates resulting in a pleasing color palette.

Antiquing or blackening liquids can be painted on your piece if you want the piece to be dark gray/black. Most of these solutions will darken both silver and gold. Please refer to the instructions or the manufacturer with questions.

BLACK RHODIUM PLATING - Rhodium plating is similar to oxidization in the finished appearance by making the sterling silver a dark charcoal color, however rhodium plating is far more durable and longer lasting. As it is a plating, it will wear over time - the wear time is unique to each individual.

** Please note, although I use thick rhodium layer... as any plating it will
fade over time. You can always send me the ring for renewing the black
plating, for only the shipping costs (about $10)

Frequently asked questions

When will my order ship?

IN STOCK items ship in 1 to 2 business days. We convo customers after each order and your delivery time will be confirmed in this communication.

Please allow 4 to 5 weeks for CUSTOM pieces - although actual production is less for most orders.

Production time of 1 to 2 weeks is considered RUSH and if we can accommodate this quick turnaround for you, a fee of $50 to $75 will apply. Please convo us before ordering to confirm that we can meet your deadline.

How do I determine my ring size?

Visit your local jeweler and have your finger sized. Then, then try on several rings in the width you are considering to confirm the fit. Wider rings (7mm - 11mm) fit more snugly than narrow bands.

We have plastic ring sizers than can be purchased from our shop. The sizers are only 2-3mm wide so you may have to add 1/2 size if you are purchasing a wider ring.

Under no circumstances do we recommend using online paper measurements as they do not provide accurate measurements.

I live in the Chicago area, can we meet in person to look at your work?

We do not have a retail store where we can meet customers. Our business is run from a small studio and for insurance purposes we cannot allow customers in the workspace. Selling online allows us to keep prices low and customer service high. When necessary, we discuss projects over the phone but time constraints prohibit us from meeting with customers in person.

Do you engrave rings?

We do offer free engraving on some styles. However, our engraving equipment is limited to one font, in capital letters and the uneven surface of our designs make it difficult for spacing of letter to be “perfect”. If you prefer a cleaner, more professional look, the ring can be easily engraved by a commercial jeweler or at a mall kiosk where they use more sophisticated (often laser) equipment and more fonts and characters are available.

I ordered the wrong size, can I exchange the ring or get a refund?

CUSTOM rings cannot be returned or refunded.

IN STOCK rings may be returned for full refund (less shipping charges) if the ring is sent back to us within 10 days, unworn, in the original packaging. We ask that you contact us within 3 days of deliver to notify us that you will returning an IN STOCK item.

Do you resize rings?

Generally, no. We can re-size SOME rings, and this is done on a case-by-case basis. Because re-sizing is a labor intensive process, we do charge a fee, which is determined by the type of ring and the materials and time required.

My ring doesn’t look like the listing photograph, what can I do?

Contact us immediately if you are not happy with the appearance of your ring. We will modify the piece to suit your needs.

Will the oxidized finish wear off? How long does it take?

If you are worried about the oxidation wearing off, we do not recommend purchasing an oxidized piece, especially a ring that will be worn on a daily basis. The oxidation WILL WEAR OFF and we cannot predict the rate at which it will do so. Soaps and detergents will take off oxidation. Taking oxidized jewelry off during hand washing, swimming, showers and sleep will help preserve the oxidized color. Every person has different body chemistry and will react to silver (and whatever alloys are in sterling silver) differently.

Our oxidized designs have a coating of industrial lacquer to protect the oxidized color. Still, oxidized rings can begin to wear in as quickly as a few days for some people.

What is black rhodium? Will it wear off?

Black rhodium is a metal and we plate some of our designs with it to achieve a solid, dark gray, almost black, color. It is more durable than oxidation but it will still wear off over time, especially in rings worn daily.

Can you use my stone to make a piece of jewelry?

We do not work with customer’s gemstones or other materials for a number of reasons including liability for materials in transit as well as replacement for stones damaged during setting.
