Gorgeous vintage books to brighten any room

A few years ago I was on vacation and stepped inside a small bookstore, which is one of my favorite things to do. On one of the front displays was the book "The Repurposed Library" by Lisa Occhipinti. The pictures on the cover fascinated me. I've been a book lover all my life--due in no small part to my mother being a librarian--but I had no idea you could make such beautiful, unusual things from old books.

I actually walked out of the bookstore without buying the book, but a couple of hours later I was still thinking about it, so I went back and bought it after all. I'm so glad I did. When I got home, I tried making several of the projects and they all turned out great. Then I started looking online for other cool things you could do with books. I was AMAZED at how creative people were and the beautiful things they were making.

I bought a few tutorials, played around until I developed my own style, and now I make my own book art. You can see it at https://www.etsy.com/shop/ReadingWithScissors

The old books I use in my art are bound for the pulping machine if I don't rescue them first. But some vintage books...well, they're gorgeous all by themselves, and they don't need any help from me to brighten a room. I search far and wide to bring these beauties to you here at the Rare Reads bookstore.

Thanks for stopping by Reading With Scissors. Grab a cup of coffee. Take your time. What's better than browsing the stacks? Nothing...
