About

Precision is Beautiful

After many years manufacturing parts for other companies, I decided to take what I've learned and use it in more artistic pursuits. Rabbit Run Road is not just the name of my company, it is where I live, work and play. It is five acres of Mother Nature's best work; my husband Mark and I are its caretakers.

Mark and I own our own CNC machine shop so it's like having an artisan toy store. We wanted to add more art to our work so I began studying. A lot. After a year of research, I took a look at 3D printing and laser engraving and after seeing some of the work, decided it wasn't for me (yet). Going on a tangent from there I found it. A true Eureka moment when everything I wanted to do fell into place and I knew. The best part? I already knew the rules of optics (and how to break them) along with the experience and tools to make it happen pretty quick. (A fascinating article about the properties of glass here: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2015-01/uob-iga012115.php)

Sandblasting, or sand carving, lets me use everything I've learned, from optics, to machining, semiconductor manufacturing, newspaper reporting and layout, Photoshop, ArtCam, GibbsCam, Corel, it all plays a role in every piece I make. What I like best about this method is the glow of carved glass when the light hits it just right, knowing it looks like that because I did it by hand, along with the beautiful imperfections that cannot be reproduced in a factory.

Most of what I make is drawn, photographed and designed by myself. Sometimes I'll use simple clip art when it fits the subject and many times, I get inspiration from clients while making custom orders.

Carving and engraving jewelry wasn't in the initial plan. It just happened one day when Mark asked if I could. Now it makes up at least half of my work and represented on the Texas Gulf Coast by Mathews Gallery and Studios in Aransas Pass, Texas.

Since every piece I make is custom and not stock inventory, I occasionally put the shop on short breaks to ensure quality over quantity. Should you find me on "vacation," send a message and I'll do my best to make it perfect for your special occasion. (Tip: double-check your shipping address to make sure it is correct!)

It's been exciting to see how fast Rabbit Run Road has grown since October 2013. Where it goes from here is anyone's guess. So, if you have an idea, let me know and together we'll make something and personalize your world.

Brand new to selling online, I am starting out small with just a few items until I get the hang of it. But just because you don't see it here doesn't mean I can't make it or maybe already have. Give me an idea and let's see where we can take it.

Returns and exchanges
It takes two to make a sale. As the seller, I will list my items with a truthful, accurate description, pack it very carefully and get it to you asap. As a buyer, I expect you to be happy when you open the box. If you are not, tell me why. If it's something I can fix, I will. If it's impossible, you'll return the item and get a refund for the price of the item. No hurt feelings, no drama, just a smooth transaction.

Just like in nature, many of my pieces come with flaws and bubbles. That's what makes them beautiful. When they do, I will say so in the listing so you'll know to expect them, even look for the patterns and shapes I often find hidden in them. Some things such as wine glasses you should expect an occasional bubble but other than the design itself, free of any noticeable scratches.

Items damaged during shipping is out of my control. Insurance is the responsibility of the buyer unless otherwise stated on item page.
Payment
Shipping addresses in Texas will be charged sales tax. If you need to cancel an order, message me asap. If I've already started working on your item, I cannot cancel. But, if I have not, I'll happily cancel the order.
Shipping
Shipping is by USPS for most orders. Large and/or heavy items may be shipped FedEx or UPS depending on the best way to get it to you. I can expedite any order if you're in a hurry. Just let me know.

Custom work takes time. All orders are made at time of purchase. ETA is approximately two weeks.

Shipping prices are based on current postage plus cost of packing materials. That's all. The only padding is protecting your item in the box.
