About

My etsy shop has made it easy to show and sell my artwork worldwide and be a part of a large community of artists and collectors.

Growing up I was home schooled in the countryside by my mom who is a sculptor and my dad who is an oil painter, carpenter, and many other things. Most of my days were spent drawing and observing nature rather than doing normal school work. Learning traditional art techniques had always been very important to me so that I can play a role in keeping these beautiful methods alive during this contemporary trend of digital, nonrepresentational, and conceptual art. I make traditional artwork in a wide variety of mediums, including woodcarving, oil painting, etching, needle felting, and alternative process photography.

In college I was looking for a way to display my artwork that was piling up, but I was too busy to be applying to galleries and hanging shows. I discovered etsy at this time and was so excited by all the amazing artistic shops in it. I created my own shop right away and have been so thankful for it ever since. Here I have found fellow artists who use traditional techniques and we can recognize and appreciate the many hours of work put into each other's creations. I love etsy because it allows me to easily show and sell my work worldwide and be a part of a large community of artists and collectors.

My etsy shop focuses on my needle felted work because it is easy to ship and popular with the etsy community. Needle-felting is a labor-intensive process in which the artist stabs loose wool repeatedly with a barbed needle to matte the fibers together into a solid felt sculpture. Each piece takes many hours to complete. My ongoing series of needle-felted fashion pieces intermingle themes of old films, exotic animals, and vintage fashion. My main objectives with these wearable sculptures is to revive the everyday wear of exquisite hats, redefine the boundary between fashion and art and push the needle felting process beyond "craft" into the realm of fine art.
