Hand made hats, some hand felted, some blocked felts...come on in and find the one that's right for you!
I have moved from California to Rochester in upstate New York.
I grew up in CA, then went to NYC for 12 years, then back to CA while my son was in school - and now I find myself in NY again! Upstate this time.
I love Rochester, and I'm hoping the community will discover how cozy and dashing felted hats are...and felted tunics and shawls - and how lovely nuno felted wallets can be...and I hope they love surface design - like dyeing with indigo, and botanical dyeing...etc.

5 out of 5 starsThis is one of the most beautiful eco printed scarves I've ever seen, it's definitely a piece of art. The colors are even more rich and coppery in person. I absolutely love it!

5 out of 5 starsTo say this hat is BEAUTIFUL is an understatement! I am totally in love with it and the seller is amazing! I needed it to be a bit bigger than the one she had available for sale so she custom made me one! She is definitely an artist who’s serious about her craft! I will definitely be back for more!

My sewing table with the two machines I use the most: my old Pfaff 1222, and my Janome. It's great to have both!

My blocking bench with cubbies for blocks and a pegboard for tools. A dream come true! A mirror is for reality checks.

Some of my favorite rusting tools...I hunt for old rusty things - a treasure hunt really.

My son thinks it's funny that Raina, our shop's namesake got me!

Owner, Felter, Designer, Maker...
I'm happy when I am making something, and sometimes enthralled. It's pretty much a one woman show, though I could never do it without my son - and my beautiful dog Raina. I am grateful for their inspiration.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders
I'm happy to make a hat that will fit you well! If you measure your head just above your eyebrows and tell me your head- size, I can tailor your hat to your needs (unless it is already made!) . All of my hats have a milliner's casing with a ribbon inside the headband (on the inside of the hat). There is a bow in the back of the hat (inside) that can be tied tighter or loosened to fit you perfectly. Hat sizes are generally around 22-23 inches...if your head deviates wildly from that size, I will make a hat especially for you!
Custom orders cannot be exchanged or returned, however, due to the personalization of the product.
Sizing details
It is very helpful to have accurate measurements to work with.
For hats simply measure around your head, just above your eyebrows.
Please send me a note with the purchase, or in a conversation with any questions regarding measurements or sizing.
Care instructions
In general I wash textiles in lukewarm water with mild dishwashing soap, such as Dawn - because it is ph neutral, and very mild.
For hats! I only advise spot cleaning. If your hat gets absolutely soaked, and needs to be re-blocked, you can send it to me and I'll re-block it for $25.00.
I've always worn hats in light rain - but they won't survive pouring rain.
Gift wrapping and packaging
I'd be very happy to gift wrap any item in a glorious manner for your special plan...just let me know.
Wholesale availability
Wholesale is challenging for items made one at a time. If you are interested in discussing larger orders, please send me a conversation.
