About

Obsessive Collector of 1950s Dresses!

Welcome to HepCatVintageUK!
I specialise in mid 20th century womenswear, concentrating particularly on 1950s cotton dresses and skirts with novelty or typical floral prints. This is because this is exactly what I collect myself!!
I absolutely LOVE 1950s day dresses, and just can't stop buying them. I buy almost all of them in the hope they'll be right for me, but most of the time they're not, and so I decide to sell them on. I find this VERY hard to do, I must say. If I had the space and money, I would keep every last one of them!
My own collection is slowly getting smaller - one body just can't wear 200 plus novelty print skirts ... can it? (Especially if that one body has an ever increasing girth!). But I still own over 100 dresses by the highly collectable British label Horrockses Fashions, of which one or two may occasionally show up in here.
I'm not really a true "business", just an absolutely obsessive collector, who needs to sell dresses to buy more dresses! A lot of the time I will be willing to do swaps, so if you see anything you like but can't really afford, do feel free to send me pics of 50s dresses you have. If I'm not desperate for money (to buy more vintage) at that time, and you have something I like, a swap may always be a possibility.
So, of course I don't have an actual physical shop, but if you happen to be in the Shrewsbury area (I'm about 13 miles south west of the centre, near the Welsh border) in future, you can visit my home and have a look through my rails and try anything on. If you send me a message we can arrange a time suitable to both of us.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my Etsy shop!
Thank you for stopping by!! Tessa

I'm not really a cat, I'm just very private and hate having my picture taken! I do, however, love and collect 1950s dresses, skirts and accessories.

I've always been a jack of many trades: teacher, author, builder, counsellor, and more. I like to know a little about everything. Under Tessa's guidance, I hope to learn about 1950s vintage, too.

Sizing details

Please be aware that the measurements I give are the absolute MAXIMUM. I hold the fabric VERY TAUT at each point.
You will need to allow a little bit of room for comfort and ease of movement.
E.G. if you have a 34 inch full bust (remember that full bust are bra back sizes are very different things!), depending on the style, you'll need you garment to measure about 36 to 38 here.

I give a approximate modern day size equivalent, but please use this as a guide only. It is much better to go by the measurements. People's size views seem to vary drastically, and as I'm sure you're very well aware, sizes vary quite a bit between shops too. So, the size guide it's really only my personal opinion, your opinion my differ.
