5 out of 5 starsWas an accidental buy but ended up being a blessing. I am a curandera and using this necklace allows me to bring balance of my masculine and feminine aspects of myself. I love this necklace a bit rough around the neck area but for me it’s that I still need to bond with this teocozcatl. Felt really good teotl (energy) from this necklace. Love the protection it brings to me.

5 out of 5 starsI can’t say how much I adore this necklace, even more so because it’s made by Waorani women. The craftsmanship is beautiful and it’s even more meaningful that this Etsy shop is a non-profit meant to empower this community. The seller included an additional one as a gift. Thank you so much! I will be purchasing again from here and sharing this store. 🙏🏼

3 out of 5 starsI know handcrafted items are never identical, and I understand that the item is still authentic, however I was expecting it to have the red beads as pictured, but the one I received did not. Still a wonderful item, just not what I had expected when purchasing. Reasonable shipping time.

WILLING HEARTS WELCOME HERE!
Love God. Love People. Touch Lives!
KAREN'S STORY: Since 1982 Karen, the founder and director of Come to the Rainforest Foundation, has had a heart for the indigenous peoples in the Amazonian rainforest. While in Bible college Karen had a strong desire to serve the indigenous who live in the remote rainforest. But Karen’s life went in several different directions, all moving her farther and farther away from the dream of serving in the rainforest. The desire and dream was tucked carefully away in the secret place of her heart. Karen thought she would never serve in the rainforest. But God has such a love for His children that he knows their secret desires and dreams and is willing to make them come true...at just the right time.
Well you guessed it! In 2012, 30 years since her dream began, Karen found herself going on a medical mission to the Ecuadorian rainforest. Karen’s secret dream became a reality. As you can imagine, Karen went and it didn’t take her long to simply fall in love with the indigenous peoples. One trip was not enough; a hundred trips will never be enough! Karen has become what she terms a part-time missionary and as a result has founded the 501c3 foundation "Come to the Rainforest.".
THIS ETSY SHOP: One of the projects Karen works on is helping the indigenous people create small self-sustainable economies in order that the peoples can independently provide for some of their most basic needs such as food, clothing, and medicines. This Etsy shop is one of those small economies! All monies from your purchases go directly back to the artisan and their village to help support their economy.
WANT TO VISIT THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES? You do not have to be a Christian to work with Come to the Rainforest. Karen wants to connect caring people with unique opportunities to work along side the rainforest tribes. To fulfill that mission, she organizes and leads three differently focused short-term opportunities: for anyone who wants to support the rainforest peoples, there are cultural immersion trips and humanitarian initiatives; for those who are believers, there are faith-based missions. If you have a willing heart and a loving spirit, you are most welcome and Karen hopes that you will join her and COME TO THE RAINFOREST!
PLEASE NOTE: Come to the Rainforest vision’s is to see the indigenous peoples train, teach, support and minister to other indigenous peoples. We strive to use resources from within the country as much as possible. We do not wish to promote dependency or paternalism as a result of a hand out.
We actively seek to partner with foreign and local Non-Government Organizations (NGO) and churches of any denomination to help support our endeavors.
