Heirloom Quality Woodworks for the Body and Spirit

Buyers are raving!

This shop got multiple 5-star reviews in the past 7 days.

Announcement    Exciting news! Our square apothecaries are back and new apothecary tool boxes are going to be listed soon!

This year we are focused on the building of our permanent shop building on our 13 acres of wooded land here in Washington state. That should open up a lot more possibilities for exciting new products and also putting new faces on old ones. Currently, we're dealing with changes in our supply chain, which includes the boxes we use for travel altars. We eventually want to be able to make them completely in our shop and that should be "doable" once we have that shop built.

In the meantime, we're required to get our boxes elsewhere. We've already sold out of most of the large ones and only have a couple of the small and XLs left in the old boxes. We just got in the new ones and they are slightly different size, but not by much. These will give us the option to add a new size! TINY.

New altar box sizes are being added/revised online as we speak, but until we can get all our listings updated please message us if you want a tiny altar box and know that you probably will be getting a new sized box.
All prices noted below include domestic shipping.

New Large- outside is 6.75" x 4.75" x 3" and inside is 6.25" x 4.5" x 2.75 ($74.95)
New Small- outside is 6" x 3.75" x 2.5 and inside is 5.25" x 3.5" x 2.5" ($64.95)
TINY- outside is 4.75" x 3.5" x 2.25" and inside is 4.25" x 2.25" x 1.5" ($54.95)

XLarges are phasing out for the moment as we have about 3 blank ones left and are still searching for a supplier. They are currently still online as available until these few we have left are sold out.

NOTE- the pictures are going to be the old boxes until we get new altar boxes made with all the designs. If you have doubts or questions, please talk to us directly through the messaging option..

Thank you for your patience and patronage as we all do our best!

A little bit about us here at Rare Earth Designs...

At Rare Earth Designs/Woodworks we specialize in the creation of metaphysical gifts, tools and supplies for serious spiritual practitioners of most any Faith. We design and fabricate our sacred art from our Land Sanctuary we call Erosia, which is situated at the base of the Olympic Peninsula in the rainy Pacific NW. Rare Earth's current incarnation is a blending of the Work of Karl Feret and Sarah Heartsong with her Heartsong Healing Arts. Their partnership has created an unique business offering our customers both sacred artistic tools and services.

Many years ago friends convinced Karl to share his skills beyond the circle of friendship. He was a stonemason/designer by trade - woodworker and metaphysical student/practitioner in everyday life. He spent over 40 years working with wood from building furniture with his father and custom homes. Now with Rare Earth Designs and building our Land Sanctuary on 13 acres of beautiful woodlands Karl works with the earth every day both on a physical and spiritual level.

Sarah is an ordained, nature-centered priestess who has served her community spiritually both as a professional and volunteer all her life. Raised an active Methodist Christian, Sarah pivoted in 1992 when she had an epiphany about the plurality and gender-full Nature of the Divine and embraced Nature as the center of her Path. She then studied intensely to gain a degree in Religion specialized in comparative Religions.

Especially interested in the spiritual traditions of indigenous peoples of the Earth with their Wisdom Ways Sarah holds a Masters of Arts in Communication Studies with intercultural communication as her focus. She, too, has a strong sense of design and comes with artistic talents hard passed down to her from both sides of her family. Most often it will be Sarah that you will talk to as she's currently working not only as an artisan, but as the office manager/director. Sarah is the Lady of the Land of Erosia, a business woman, a coach, a reader, a healer, a ceremonialist and often a teacher.

Karl considers himself to mostly be a Theosophist, gathering his beliefs and ideologies from a worldwide variety of sources and after studying the teachings of all major religions including Gnostic Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism. He draws primarily upon Druidic, Wiccan, Reiki and Shamanistic traditions in his daily spiritual life. In addition to his obvious passion for trees, he finds solace in the energy of crystals and the guidance of the tarot, astrology and runes. He is the Lord of the Land of Erosia.

Caring for the Land, our Earth, is important to us. In the production of our art, we reuse old things, such as upcycling old wooden bowls to use as our hoops for the drums and locally sourcing supplies, buying them from thrift stores as much as possible while creating our art. We use shellacs instead of petroleum based wood sealants and we make our own all-natural wood balm for polishing and sealing our wooden products.

This year we started 2021 with a vision of adding a permanent shop building and camping spots to our 13 acres of wooded Land. Hopefully this will happen this year so we can completely fabricate our boxes in house and expand our ability to create larger items. We also then will have better ability to accept guests and spiritual seekers as we work towards the development of this Land Sanctuary upon which we both live and work.

Explore what we have to offer. Perhaps you will find your next heirloom piece you will pass down to your descendents. Maybe you will be moved to create the next ceremony to mark a change in your life with incense, a new wand or divination tool? Whatever brings you here you are welcome! Please enjoy your visit and feel free to reach out if you are in need of a custom tool, gift or a service we offer or if you have any questions.

Blessings
Sarah and Karl

Shop policies

Every land has tales of trees that are sacred to their culture. Like crystals and herbs, every tree possesses its own unique energy or healing qualities. Friends have trusted Karl to hand-craft their wands and other implements for years because of nearly a lifetime of woodworking skill and decades as a metaphysical practitioner. Sarah joins the shop with over 25 years of experience in intercultural/interfaith studies, specializing in occult and naturecentric worship. Between the two of us we come with a lot of knowledge about tools that practitioners will need in regular practice.

Please feel free to ask us about customization of any of our products and to give us suggestions for new things to make! We don't promise, but might be able to create the perfect implement of your dreams.
Thank you for your patronage!
Sincerely,
Sarah and Karl

Returns and exchange details
We refund the purchase price of an item returned within 14 days of shipping with the customer paying return shipping. We will replace any insured item damaged or lost in transit to the best of our ability; however, with each piece being individually created (sometimes under unique conditions) replacement may not be an option. We have to follow the insurance rules and will send the new piece once we've been paid out by the insurance -or- we will refund you the money if you decide you don't want the item anymore. If we make a mistake we will pay for the return shipment and fix the problem and send it to you (except international orders). Please note that each item is made of wood and the wood grains and such make each item unique. It will not be identical to the picture in the listing. Custom or personalized orders are not exchangeable/returnable unless we made a mistake, in which case we will do our best to make it right. International orders we will do our best to make right if we make a mistake and may choose not to have them shipped back to replace. We always ask for pictures, so we can try to do better next time but we do accept we are human and sometimes there are errors.
Payment
Payment is expected within three (3) days of purchase, but if you need a little more time or want to combine shipping with another piece, just let us know. We'll hold onto your item for as long as you need - no problem as long as you communicate. We file unpaid item claims after 7 days without payment or communication, and relist the item after 14 days. Things happen, let me know - we're really very patient and understanding.
Shipping
Shipping costs cover the postage and cost of shipping materials. We usually ship Monday – Friday via USPS. Shipping times are in “business days”, and with recent changes at the post office, shipping may take longer. Purchases are not shipped in the order that they were placed, but rather when each piece is actually finished and ready to go. These times vary according to the wood (purpleheart needs to “cook” a few days to get the best color) and the weather (we are a small business running out of a temporary shop and finishes can be hampered by the weather.
Additional policies and FAQs
Wood Care -
We wax and buff every wand for several reasons: First, to bring out the natural beauty of the grain, but more importantly, to protect the wood. The natural oils in our skin may change the color of the wood over time as well as allowing dirt to penetrate the pores. Additionally, dramatic changes in temperature or humidity can create splitting or warping in such slender pieces of wood. We use a natural wax and oil in our shop to protect both newly created pieces and our own personal collection.
