5 out of 5 starsI first reached out to the shop 7(!) years ago and finally recently purchased a men’s wedding ring and a custom matching women’s ring. Both are more perfect than I could have ever hoped for. Dan’s work is impeccable, and Laura was an absolute joy to correspond with — she responds promptly and was so patient and helpful (over multiple years!). Both of them helped make my vision a reality, which I didn’t think was possible — and the process was so much faster and easier than I ever expected. My fianceé and I love that our rings are one-of-a-kind and of the highest quality, and we can tell how much attention and care Dan spends on the details. Both rings were also very reasonably priced and shipped quickly! I can’t recommend this shop enough — we couldn’t have found better rings (products or service) anywhere else.

5 out of 5 starsLaura and Dan went above and beyond to make sure my fiancé and I had the ring of our dreams for our wedding. We purchased a men’s migraine and hammered handmade ring and it was exquisite.

5 out of 5 starsI went to countless stores in person searching for a wedding band before realizing that I wasnt going to find what I wanted in a store - they all stock similar mass produced rings with no personality. After sorting through hundreds of listings, I finally stumbled upon Ravens Refuge (three weeks before my wedding). I immediately reached out to see what my options were and was pleasantly surprised by Laura saying that Dan could get it done in time. What arrived in the mail two and half weeks later was nothing short of a masterpiece. The ring is stunning. Knowing that it was made by an artisan, and not machine, is what makes this ring even more special to me. If you're in a similar situation as I was, do yourself a favor - ditch the stores and support Ravens Refuge, you will not be disappointed!

5 out of 5 starsRavensRefuge made a custom wedding ring for my wife and it came out perfectly. My wife has small hands and they adjusted a few measurements (not just ring size) to make it work wonderfully for her. I appreciated their suggestions and thoughtfulness. Thank you!
About RavensRefuge
Dan is one of those rare people who always knew exactly what he wanted to do: become a master goldsmith. As a young boy, he had a penchant for skipping school so that he could flatten pennies on the railroad tracks of Wyoming. His attendance was better in high school, where he could take welding for credit -- and he became the state welding champion. When Dan finished high school, he hopped on a bus to Portland, where he knew he could find an apprenticeship with a jeweler, and he never looked back.
Now having worked with metals and gems for over 30 years, Dan is a master goldsmith, platinumsmith and gemsetter, and a perfectionist of the highest order. It is difficult to pull Dan away from his bench -- it's where he's happiest... and his idea of the perfect vacation? Digging for diamonds in Arkansas!
We welcome custom inquiries, but please know that we currently have a limited amount of time that can be devoted to more intricate custom work such as engagement rings. You can view a few of Dan's prior custom projects at www.flickr.com/photos/ravensrefuge/ (or on facebook under "ravens refuge"). He also does a fantastic job with organic casting.
More information and a compilation of our hammering styles, as well as a gallery of a small portion of Dan's prior work, is available at our website: www.ravensrefuge.com.
We purchase our precious metals from a local refinery that deals entirely in recycled metals. We purchase our gems only from suppliers that pledge to sell conflict free stones.
We alloy all of our gold in our shop and we handmill all of our own stock.
Our business philosophy is simple: provide an excellent product with personal attention at a reasonable price.
My name is Laura. I'm promoting Dan's art on Etsy and busy being the mother of our two wonderful children. I answer our inquiries as soon as possible, take all of our photos, and help Dan out at the studio whenever I get the chance.
We are always adding new items to our little nook of Etsy -- so please check back with us to see more of Dan's wonderful creations.
We hope that we will be able to provide you with jewelry that will be treasured for generations. Thank you for visiting our shop.

Please note that we will be camping with sporadic Internet access until March 28th. If you write or order during this time period, please know that we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

We strive to create pieces that the owner will treasure, and we welcome custom orders.
Generally: It has come to our attention that we are not receiving all of our messages. If you do not hear from us within 24 hours, please contact us at ravensrefuge [at] gmail.com.
PLEASE NOTE: Our queue is based on the order in which deposits / payments are made. We are happy to take installments on any of our items in whatever increments work for you. A deposit will get your order into our queue.
Our ability to accommodate rush orders may be dependent upon whether we happen to have stock on hand that already is rolled out in the requested dimensions. This isn't a frequent occurrence, as we roll out our stock to order.
If we don't have stock on hand, our ability to accommodate rush orders will depend on whether Dan is able to work longer hours at the studio so that orders in our day-to-day queue will not be delayed. In these circumstances, we charge a rush fee.

Returns and exchange details
For listed items, exchanges or full refunds may be made if the item is returned in original, unworn condition within 7 days of delivery. Exchanges & full refunds will be given even if dimensions have been customized & are different from the dimensions in the listed items. Shipping costs will not be refunded.
Special orders may be returned within 7 days of delivery for store credit only. (“Special orders” do not include wedding bands ordered in dimensions other than those listed. Such wedding bands are returnable for full refunds, as specified above.) “Special orders” include items that are designed specifically for the customer in a personalized manner. Examples of special orders include contoured wedding bands (made to accommodate an engagement ring setting); jewelry with birthstones or specific colored stones; items made with materials that we generally do not use (for example, 90/10 platinum/iridium or 10k gold); and custom engagement rings not pictured on this site. Engraved rings are considered special orders and returnable for store credit only. A labor charge for the special ordered ring will be deducted from the store credit. This charge for returned special orders will be 10% of the price for items over $1000 in price; or $100 for items less than $1000 in price.
Rush orders that we are able to accommodate will be returnable for store credit only. A labor charge for the rush ordered ring will be deducted from the store credit, as will the rush fee.
If we consider the sale to be final, we will notify you prior to setting up your deposit listing. Shipping costs will not be refunded.
If two rings are ordered with the clear intent of returning one and keeping the other, there will be a labor fee of $100 for the ring returned. Our return policy is meant to alleviate the concerns that arise when ordering jewelry sight unseen over the Internet. (Dan makes all of our rings specifically for the person ordering. We lose labor time when rings are ordered, for example, simply for the purpose of trying on with engagement rings.)
All jewelry must be paid for within one year of the initial deposit. In the event that an item is ordered and payment is completed six months or later from the time of the initial deposit, any requested refund will incur either a 10% restocking fee for items over $1000 in price or a $100 restocking fee for items less than $1000 in price. Shipping costs will not be refunded.
QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP IS GUARANTEED. Though we hope it will not be necessary, if your piece needs to be repaired due to faulty workmanship, we certainly will repair it free of charge. In the event that your piece requires repair due to normal wear, we will repair it at minimal cost in addition to shipping costs.
We guarantee against loss of diamonds and gemstones due to normal wear and tear for one year post receipt. We highly recommend that all stones be checked at least once each year to ensure that they are not loose.
Any and all warranties related to workmanship and resizing will be void if another jeweler has worked on our jewelry. (Setting checks are fine as long as the jeweler has not worked on the ring.)
Payment
For special orders, we typically require a 50% deposit up front, with the balance due upon completion (prior to shipping). We are happy to take installments for any of our items, as well, with whatever increments work for you. A deposit will get your order into our queue.
If you would like to change your order after Dan has started working on it (or after you've received it), there will be a labor charge dependent on time spent.
If you would like to pay with a personal check, please contact us prior to purchasing. In the event that we agree to payment with a personal check, the check will be held for two weeks prior to shipment of the item.
Shipping
All domestic orders will ship via USPS Priority Mail. This generally takes two to three days for delivery, but there is no guarantee on a delivery date. If you are concerned about timing, please ask us for a quote on expedited delivery. Shipping costs vary from $6 to $50 for domestic shipping via Priority Mail, depending on price of the item purchased. This includes shipping, insurance and tracking.
International orders will ship for between $40 and $120, depending on cost of the item purchased. International orders generally are shipped via USPS Express or UPS International.
**International customers, please note that it is not permissible to mail jewelry via US mail to all countries. For some countries, we may need to resort to a FedEx or UPS shipping service & these services generally cost between $75 & $150. Insurance and tracking is included.
**International customers, please remember that you will be responsible for customs charges! This shop is not registered to collect VAT/GST in any country; therefore, VAT/GST is NOT included in our pricing. Customers are responsible for any VAT/GST and/or Customs charges levied by their country on overseas purchases.
Items will be gift-boxed and sent in a priority box or padded mailer.
