Announcement    To my fellow Angelinos, I'll be at Art & Beer L.A. on March 19 and April 16. Check out my Local section for more info. I did their event before and it was fun. It’s held at a brewery and it’s free to get in. They feature a very eclectic mix of vendors. Last time I was between a book seller and a painter. A dream come true!

Hey, while you’re here, check out the new Mars Rover and Wexler rings. Both feature unusual stones. Also new is the Floating Moon pendant, made of 14k gold plated brass, and the new Golden Ratio pendant featuring a spiral shell.

I gift wrap items using art paper. I encourage you to reuse all packaging in creative ways. Line the inside cover of a journal, for instance, or make a book mark, or collage!

Porch pirates stealing your booty? They can’t if you follow the guidelines below:

Have your item sent to an address where it won’t be left outside for even a minute.

Like:

• A workplace with a receptionist.
• A friend or relative who is always home.
• A USPS branch for pick up in person.
• A PO Box address.

Tip:

• Sign up online for text alerts so you can follow your item’s progress and be there the moment it’s delivered.

If USPS marked your package online as delivered but you don’t see it on your porch or in your mailbox, do the following:

• Check with USPS immediately to confirm the GPS location of a delivered package based on the scan.
• If delivered to the wrong address, you might be able to retrieve it or USPS might reimburse you if it’s their mistake, but it’s up to you to follow up.
• File a report with USPS and the police. (Probably required for the next step below).
• Check with your credit card company to see if they cover theft.

Consider adding insurance to your shipping. It covers anything lost or damaged while in the hands of USPS. It costs about .50¢ -$1 more. You can decide if it’s worth it to you.

I take packages in person to the post office and get a paper receipt. I send a photo to confirm it is now in the hands of USPS.

My work isn’t mass produced by others. It’s all made by me, is unique, and takes days to complete so I can’t replace it.

Let’s take all precautions. I want you to be happy.

▪️I am a traditionally trained artist. In 2013 I began studying metal arts after reading about jewelry designer, Suzanne Belperron. I first studied wax carving, then moved into fabrication and stone setting. I was compelled to see if I could learn new skills and what ideas might emerge through this medium.

▪️It’s easier and safer to recreate what is already popular and proven. I let my ideas guide me, taking me to unknown places. Those ideas often put the wearer ahead of the style curve.

▪️I hand-fabricate all settings out of sheet metal and wire. I don’t make chains, earring posts (unless I run out), earring backs, or pin components but get those ready-made from my supplier. Gold plating is done in downtown L.A. by a small, family-run operation. I do everything else, from graphic design, photography, creating set props, to gift wrapping and packing the orders. It makes me happy to share my aesthetic.

▪️I take care in the entire process and spend many hours on each piece. I continue to study and expand my skills to offer you the highest quality work I can, and unique designs that you won’t see elsewhere.

▪️Thank you for shopping at Ray Design! Cheerio! 💕

Care instructions

Silver is a softer metal than other white metals like platinum so it can scratch. Sterling has a small amount of copper in it, which causes it to oxidize over time if it hasnt been worn in a while. Usually one day of wear will polish it but you can also get a polishing cloth for silver.

Gold-plated brass will sometimes wear down over time, so preserve it by not wearing it in the shower or while doing activities that might degrade it over time. Polish gently, if at all.

Brass will oxidize. Bring the color and polish back using a Sunshine polishing cloth. You can use Brasso polishing compound on it but it will potentially change the original finish either making it shinier or more matte.
