These are fantastic! I know that I live in a mostly warm(very warm) climate but I have neuropathy in my hands and feet from immunosuppressants I take for a kidney transplant. This makes my fingers and toes feel like ice at times. I'm looking forward to using these beautiful upcycled gloves for many seasons! Thank you so very much! Birth in a Goodwill Check-Out Lane

You read the title correctly; a birth occurred in a check-out lane at a thrift shop. Thankfully, it wasn't my son's birth, rather it was my business ReWoolables. I make useful and beautiful items from felted wool sweaters.

Having stumbled across a book on repurposing wool sweaters one autumn, I began hunting thrift shops. By early spring I was addicted and showing signs of needing help. Case in point: I was wearing a sweater I had sewn from 4 other sweaters, shouldering my first purse (again upcycled wool sweaters), carrying an armload of more wool sweaters - more like spilling over my arms and elbows- while standing in the check-out line at a Goodwill.

The lady behind me asked if I was going to make things from all those sweaters. (What tipped her off I wonder?) We struck up a conversation, and she jotted down my name and number to make items for her boutique located on the square downtown. ReWoolables was born!

My bedroom is my work space and it has several tubs bursting with scraps. Felted wool lint can be found all over the house; once I found a wool scrap in the fridge. I have no idea how it got there.

When I'm not hopping garage sales for wool sweaters and other materials to repurpose, I'm digging in the garden. My winter months are spent sewing. I'm a Mid Western mom to two ornery but sweet boys and married to their Dad - an archaeologist.
