About RecollectionPhoto

I share photos of places and items of the past to decorate the future.

Over the years I found myself moving quite frequently. I began to accumulate items here and there and eventually it was unsustainable to keep all these things for myself.

In the last five years, I lost both of my parents. This left me with accumulated sentiment for my solo life and then suddenly I found myself navigating through the memories and homes of my parents. It was tough but also therapeutic. But it led me to a place of understanding where I had to decide what stays and what goes and there wasn't room for it all.

My then fiancé and now wife came up with a great idea: Take photos of the things I'll miss so I'll always remember them even if I don't use them or need to own them any longer. This allowed me to keep these things with me while also serving as a history lesson to my life and my family's legacy.

So as Covid-19 ravaged the world this year, I saw that there was a return to the home life for a lot of people. There was an unprecedented pause in the constant rush of work and people began to reassess their values. Things became less important as relationships and experiences became much more valuable. And with this reality, I decided to share my photography wall art. A way for people to visit years passed through items that affected us all in some respect.

We all have memories of crafts, hobbies, sports, and lifestyles and I wanted to present a variety of items allowing people to have that mood or accent in a room without having to take up space for an item that won't be used and will just take up space. These are the items that remind them of the first time they picked up a camera, or the first video game you ever played, or even the first time you danced. These are a collection of our memories from our lives, not our careers.

I invite you to explore this recollection collection of photos and see where they take you back to. Thanks so much and stay healthy.

Hey there, I'm James and welcome to my shop! I've been photographing the world around me for as long as I can remember and I'd love share a little of the past into the present. RecollectionPhoto is wall art that is modern with a hint of yesterday.
