About

Where fantasy and folklore come to life....

My shop started about 15 years ago when I became involved with the SCA. I really couldn't make up my mind about a persona, as for me it all came down to the costumes. I made several styles of garb, and the ones I wasn't interested in were sold off. Eventually I just discovered that I loved the designing and building process of it all and a costume company was born! I recruited my mom and aunt and we've been working together ever since.
For the jewelry side, I pretty much stumbled into it. I've always loved beads and sparklies of all kinds and so for my wedding day, I knew I didn't want flowers. I saw a beaded bouquet online and figured I could make it more to my tastes. It turned out amazing! However, I was sitting on a surplus of beads and didn't know quite what to do with them. I started making girdles for my dresses, and then it just kind of blossomed from there.
For many years I struggles with balancing my creative venture and and my full time management career. After my son was born in 2014, I couldn't face putting him in daycare and have him spend more time with strangers than his momma. By the time he was turning one, we had concerns with his motor skills development (which turned out to be severe Juvenile Arthritis in pretty much all his joints) , and my choice was made easy. I turned in my notice and now I spend my days balancing a 2 year old tyrant with my creative pursuits and life is good! My creative hobby turned full time business has allowed my creative freedom, some financial stability, and the flexibility to be at home with my son when he needs me most.

Welcome to our little shop... we're glad you stopped by. RecycledRockstah is a mother and daughter team, and we can talk for hours about garb and fabric. My mother loves Tudor gowns, while I am more into the Italian and medieval styles, as well as the jewelry making aspect of the business. Our philosophy is pretty simple and straight forward. We believe and support small businesses, creativity is all its forms, and a recycled earth friendly way of life. I love the spirit and soul of Etsy, and do the majority of my shopping right here in our community.

All our items are crafted or sewn by hand, and we try to keep our dresses one of a kind creations. For that reason, many of our gowns are not available for custom orders. On rare occasions, I may list one custom listing for a dress I happened to love and have extra fabric for, but generally making unique items keeps it interesting and a more creative outlet for us.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
We prefer Paypal or Direct Checkout. It is quick, easy, and the seller and buyer both have a measure of protection. Sorry, but no personal cheques please. We do offer layaway and payment plans.
Shipping
For our US and Canadian buyers:
We ship Canada Post: Small Packet Air for our jewelry items with a delivery time of 6-10 days, and Expedited Parcel with a delivery time of 6-12 days. Small Packet Air does NOT include tracking! If you require an item with tracking, or with a faster delivery time, we can do that too, but there will be additional shipping charges.

A BIG NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING CHARGES: The shipping fees quoted are estimated on the size and weight of a heavy dress... better to quote high and send a refund, than to send a bill for additional charges, right? They are also calculated on estimated delivery destinations, so PLEASE let us know if you would like a customized shipping quote for the item you have your eye on. We have no problem refunding back for over paid shipping charges either!

For our International buyers: Basic Surface Mail prices are quoted in our listing, which is how we will send larger parcels, such as costumes. Smaller parcels (jewelry and crowns, some smaller clothing items) is via small packet air international. Small Packet Air does NOT include tracking! If you require an item with tracking, we can do that too, but there will be additional shipping charges. Please note that Surface Mail can take 4-6 WEEKS depending on your location. You can upgrade to Air Mail for delivery in approx. 8-12 days depending on location. There is an additional fee for the upgrade. If you would like to upgrade your shipping, please convo me with your address, and I will get an exact rate for you.

Please be aware that purchases shipped to locations outside of Canada may be subject to Customs and Duty fees.
Refunds and Exchanges
Certain items are not returnable due to hygienic concerns. (earrings and bloomers fall into this category) All our other items are returnable in the case of manufacturing defects.
Please note that our items are carefully inspected and photographed in great details for insurance purposes before leaving our shop. It is not advisable to try and return an item that has been already worn or been purposefully damaged, hoping for a refund. If your item has been damaged during shipping, this will result in an insurance claim with Canada Post, which can take up to 30 business days. Please be patient and willing to work with them in order to expedite your refund process.

If a buyer has just flat out changed their mind about a purchase, items are returnable but return shipping must be paid by the buyer and must be within five days of receiving the item from our shop. If you have an item that you would like to return, please contact us, and we can help you through the process.
Additional policies and FAQs
We love Alchemy! We also love hearing your ideas, so don't be shy!

Rentals: While we have agreed to rental agreements in the past, this is sadly no longer an option for us. Too many items have been returned broken or not returned at all, so now we are happy to offer photographers a discounted rate for prop items. Please convo us to discuss your options!
