RedClayTileWorks' Shop Policies
Eileen and I were initially inspired to found our tile business after touring the wild and fanciful estate/workshop/museum of Henry Mercer in Doylestown, PA. We observed the simple almost primitive technology and marveled at the wonderful product that resulted from such a basic process.
Inspired, we built our own equipment and machinery and proceeded to refine the process and adapt it to our unique vision. I used my metal working skills to build a tile extruder from a section of 8 inch steel pipe and a clay mixer from my father’s decommissioned water tank. A small tile press energized by the operator’s body weight and a larger press built around a small hydraulic jack are the core tools of the process. Out training in art and design is applied to the masters that give form to our tiles. Steady hands apply intricate glazing schemes to be finalized by the magic of fire. Yes, things are still made in the United States and we’re proud of it!
Please pay promptly through PayPal when the item is selected for purchase. If I have not received payment within 3 days of your purchase, I will relist the item and cancel the transaction. Customers in Pennsylvania will pay 6% sales tax on the item and also the shipping (sorry, but that is the way the law reads)
Orders will be shipped promptly by USPS Priority Mail or by UPS with delivery confirmation. At this time I am restricting sales to the United States but I will expand service in the near future. If you live outside the United States and wish to purchase, please communicate with me and I will turn my attention to making it happen.
For orders near the Pittsburgh studio, you may pick up items at the shop and avoid shipping. Send a message to that effect in the “Message to Seller” window and arrangements will be made.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your order and would like to return it, I will refund the cost of the tile, minus shipping. Custom items are not returnable. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility. Repack the item(s) as carefully as they were shipped to you making sure that tiles are not near the edge of the box or could possibly contact each other in shipment. Refunds can only be given for items returned in the same condition that they were shipped; no chips, no adhesive and in saleable condition. Returns must be made within 14 days. Please contact me immediately if a return is desired. Your patronage is highly valued and I will do my best to earn your trust and your business.
Contact me immediately if your tile has been damaged in transit. I am very careful with packaging and have not experienced a problem to date.
