How a Red Mamma was born
Well, lets see, I always made things - much to my mams dismay - mainly because I used to steal the tubes from the toilet roll when they were still full because I needed to make my toilet roll person NOW, after all, the small village of toilet roll people under my bed were waiting for them to arrive!!
My mam taught me to knit when I was really young and I loved it but couldn't quite make the things that were in my head come to life and so I put down the needles and left the wool to get lonely and pine for it's lost potential!
But then with a bolt out of the blue I was laid off work and ended up on the dole and thought I would go crazy with boredom so I began to volunteer with groups which supported adults with learning difficulties, and one day I was asked if I could help someone with their knitting and BLAM - I was hooked again, the first thing I made was a hot dog draught excluder and my sisters friend loved it so much she actually paid me for it, and there it began, I designed a bag for my sister and was then inundated with orders which was great but then I was asked for more traditional knits and so my mam was roped into my scheme, hats, gloves, cushion covers and even cabled cat baskets were soon flying off her needles and in fear of the village drowning in woollen creations I decided that I would try my hand at selling on a wider scale and ETSY was my big idea!!!!
Owner, Designer, Maker
I have been making things since I can remember, and whenever I used to follow instructions to make someone else's design it never looked how it was supposed to so I thought why not make my own! and yeah, its really the Queen!!!
My lovely mam is the reason I can knit and crochet and there's not a ball of wool out there she can't make look beautiful! Mam makes the bigger and more complicated things that quite frankly I cant do! she likes traditional knits - and walnut whips!
