Hello and Welcome to my store! I love to carve and am thrilled when other people enjoy (and purchase) my work. I carve a variety of subjects, including Santas, wood spirits, wizards, green men, and animals and their paw and hoof prints. I use a variety of woods and sometimes carve out of other materials, such as antler and pipestone.

Twenty years of carving experience go into the pieces I create. I am very particular about when I consider a carving finished, so you can expect fine attention to detail on each and every carving I sell.

Feel free to browse. I wish I could offer you some hot apple cider or lemonade, depending on the weather. If you like what you see, I'd appreciate it if you'd tell your friends and relatives who may be interested.

Payment
I accept PayPal, money orders and personal, business or cashiers checks. I will wait to ship your purchase until a check clears the bank. I prefer receiving payment as soon as you select a carving you'd like to call your own, just as you would in a physical store. If something will keep you from paying for a day or two, or if you will be mailing your payment, please let me know. I'm pretty flexible as long as I know what's going on.

While I hope this never happens, if I don't receive payment and I don't hear from you within 48 hours of purchase, I will cancel the transaction.
Shipping
WHEN I'LL SHIP: I almost always ship the same day or the next day after you pay for your purchase. I use the United States Postal Service (USPS) and ship 1st Class, if possible, or Parcel Post. I will ship Priority if the cost is close to the Parcel Post cost. If you prefer to pay extra for Priority, please let me know (see below for how to contact me) before you pay for your item so I can let you know what the extra shipping charge will be.

MORE THAN ONE ITEM: If you purchase more than one item (which is highly encouraged, by the way), please contact me by email at gottacarve [!at] jetup.net or call me at 320-294-5843 for the shipping cost. I will charge the actual shipping cost for all of the pieces in one box. It's hard to say in the listing how much an additional item will cost to ship since it depends on the weight and size of each item.

INSURANCE & DAMAGE: For packages mailed in the U.S., insurance is included in the shipping cost on items that cost $50 or more or if they're not easily replicated. For carvings costing less than $50, I will refund your money or carve you a replacement piece if the one you purchased is damaged or lost during shipping. If damaged, I will need to see pictures of the damaged piece. Please note that a replacement carving, since it is created by hand, will not look exactly like the one you purchased, but I will get it as close as possible. I package my carvings carefully and none have ever been damaged during shipment. I don't want to put all that work into a carving only to have it break, and I certainly don't want to disappoint my buyers.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: You are responsible for all customs and duty fees. I cannot purchase insurance for packages being shipped First Class, so please be aware that any carvings shipped via this method is at your risk (but please let me know if anything happens to your carving so we can work something out). I have shipped many things to other countries using First Class International and have never had a problem. Priority mail, which costs a lot more, includes some insurance coverage and more can be purchased. Please, if you're concerned about shipping costs or insurance coverage, contact me before making a purchase so I can check into it for you.

PACKAGING: I'm big on recycling and reuse clean boxes and bubble and other wrapping. I always make sure the box is large enough to accommodate the amount of protection I feel your carving needs. Please let me know if you have a specific packaging request or would like your carving gift wrapped and double boxed for an extra charge. I will mail the box to the gift recipient at your request.
Refunds and Exchanges
I would like you to buy a carving from me with the intention of keeping it. I provide close-up pictures of all sides to show you exactly what you will be getting and provide an accurate description of what it's carved out of and the finish it has on it. Feel free to ask for more pictures if you'd like to see a different angle. That said, if you are sincerely unhappy (it hasn't happened yet), please let me know and we'll work something out.

See my shipping policy for damage related refunds.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please do let me know if there's a specific type of carving you'd like to see in my store and I will try to accommodate your wishes. I will carve custom orders also -- let me know what you would like and we can go from there. The price varies depending on the type of wood, complexity and the amount of detail.

For custom or made to order carvings, please keep in mind that since they are hand carved, no two are ever alike. I will do my best to make what you order look like what you have in mind, but there will be slight variances.
