Though my initial print arrived damaged slightly, Monique was on top of getting me another one as quickly as possible and walked me through the process! It is beautiful and I hope to do business with her again!

About

In the Direction of my Dreams

I'm a NorCal girl, and after living in Oakland & the East Bay for nearly 4 decades, I have an appreciation for its breadth of cultural diversity, acceptance and of course, great cuisine! Truly a remarkable place on Earth! We recently moved our home & studio to the Sierras, just south of Yosemite National Park, where the inspiration is hard to miss.

For the last 20 years, I was lucky enough to have sole control over my creative output in my capacity as head of Marketing & Design for a wholesale specialty food company, where I also used the left side of my brain as CFO. In 2011, I decided to take Thoreau's advice: “If one advances confidently in the direction of one's dreams, and endeavors to live the life which one has imagined, one will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Yes, I gave up the day job in favor of pursuing my dream of devoting myself to art on a full-time basis! Creating directly for clients has been a surprising, joyful, enriching and humbling experience.

I have explored many areas of visual art, but find the challenge of printmaking to be captivating; Carving my own designs, the feel & aroma of the wood, polishing of the copper, mixing my inks into the perfect color, the pressing of each creation, layer by layer, into the paper. Though I started out thinking that relief printmaking was the end-all, be-all, as I've discovered intaglio techniques & collography, I've decided that anything under the Printmaking umbrella is for me! I move from a copper plate etching to a linocut or woodcut relief print to a monoprint and back again, often having more than one project cooking at a time.

I have also begun to utilize a combination of printmaking and the ancient medium of encaustic painting, which utilizes beeswax, damar resin and pigments. I incorporate my love of photography and illustration into these works, which seem almost alive at times. I strive to ensure archival quality in all my works. I want you, and the generations to come, to enjoy them for as long as possible.

I've also worked creating very large canvas acrylics, whole room stencils & murals and logo / brand identity design.

My artwork is largely nature-inspired, particularly by the magnificent mountain areas in and around Yosemite. I strive to bring into my work the feelings I am left with after walking in the woods for an hour, after seeing a new (for me) feathered wonder on a branch, after watching shadows dance across the snowscape during sunset.

Now that we are settled in the Mountains, with my daughter safely off to college, art remains central to the direction of my dreams. As amazing as the Bay Area & the Mountains are, I also delight in experiencing the rest of the planet's other beautiful places and cultures and hope to add some new flavors to my work via some serious traveling! I would also like to devote more time to reading, training our canine companion not to eat my socks, kayaking, hiking, cooking good food (I'm really missi that famous Bay Area cuisine!) and enjoying the company of family, friends and art lovers.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me and for visiting my shop. I hope you enjoy my work and visit again soon! If you can't get enough of the Red Tail Experience, visit my blog at: http://redtailmews.wordpress.com/

Go forth confidently, imagination in hand, in the direction of your dreams!

I'm often made fun of for noticing tiny flowers at my feet or for listening to bird calls in the middle of conversations. My patient husband, Tim, & talented daughter, Shea, make up our family of three, spending time between the Mountains & the Sea!

Shipping
Items are listed to ship within the US only, but may be shipped outside the US upon request with cost determined per item. Please convo us your request!

Items will ship out within 3 business days of receiving payment. If your address differs from that registered with Etsy or you need the item to be shipped to a different address (for work or as a gift perhaps) please let us know in the 'note to seller' or by the Etsy Conversations system.

In the USA, we ship using USPS Priority (usually 2-3 days), which we have found the safest and most economical method of shipping fine art. Encaustic paintings are shipped using the best method possible on a case-by-case basis due to temperature concerns. If a faster method of shipping is needed, please let us know before your order and we can provide you with price quote.

NOTE: Prints to Europe, Mexico and Australia are now shipped rolled up in clear archival sleeves, in Triangles/Tubes unless you request otherwise. The price goes up 3X to ship in flat boxes, so we are trying this method starting in July of 2016.

All packages go with insurance and delivery confirmation. Outside the USA, please remember that all tariffs are paid by you, the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Printmaking Fine Art prints are unique and each one varies slightly from its edition-mates. When posting photos, we try to give you a peak at multiple pieces within an edition. If you wish, we can take an additional photo or two of the piece you would be receiving prior to purchase.

For that reason, we offer no refunds or exchanges except for carrier-documented* damage. If you aren't satisfied with your purchase, please contact us through the Etsy Conversations system, so we can discuss your thoughts and work to resolve any issues together. Please notify us ASAP if you have a problem.

*Refunds and exchanges are only available if your package arrives in a damaged condition, documented by the carrier. If your print arrives damaged, please take a photograph, contact your carrier and return it to us (after you receive our authorization) in the original packaging. Only after this is received can we provide the refund/exchange.
