This was my first purchase on Etsy. Catherine was very helpful in every way to make the transaction extremely easy and smooth. The item arrived in mint condition, exactly as described - AND - sooner than anticipated. Thanks a million!! Great seller. Highly recommended.

About

I love to work with colour.

I came upon Etsy in a magazine article and have been busy since January 2012 getting to grips with its methods and working on my shop. I keep changing things around but now my pictures for sale on Etsy are all original, one of a kind monotypes. These are paintings which are individual hand-pulled prints and are one-offs because no 're-inkable' plate exists (as for linocuts or etchings). The colours are rolled out on a flat surface and then lifted off with the paper. I like to use high quality artist grade colours and good paper because it really makes a difference to the result.
Please remember copyright remains with the artist.
I love so many of the shops on Etsy that I spend too much time admiring other people's creations, making Treasuries, and not getting on with my own work!
A visitor to my house described it as creative chaos. I have to agree, and probably add 'with dust'.

I've always loved messing with drawing, painting, making. Never been able to make it the main day job (yet!) but have been involved with a craft cooperative, exhibitions, workshops and galleries for years.

Thank you for visiting my shop. I hope you find something you want to buy. I have enjoyed making all the pictures and I get a real kick when someone out there likes one so much they want to buy it. The colour of the originals and what I see on my screen is very well matched. But other monitors may differ slightly.
Colour really excites me and colour next to colour is endlessly amazing. When it's cold, I feel warmest working with colours.
People often say of painting as a pastime ‘that must be so relaxing’. Well, it isn’t really as it can be very frustrating and make whole days vanish when you meant to do something else. But it’s gripping and exhilarating on good days – we won’t mention the failures!
I won a painting competition at school when I was about 9 and I have just one picture I painted at that time (squirreled away by my mother and found in her 'treasures') which I couldn't achieve now - children's paintings have such a freshness.
Since those distant days, I have played with all sorts of different techniques, been to many workshops, exhibited many pictures, sold quite a few, bought hundreds of books, run workshops for fun and for cash, visited dozens of exhibitions - and generally been interested in art.
If there’s anything you want to ask about my paintings or my shop policies, please get in touch. You can always message me on Etsy.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I accept PayPal payment. You will also be able to use a credit card if you click on PayPal.
I will send your purchase very soon after full payment for the painting and shipping costs has cleared.
Immediate payment makes life easier but I will wait 3 days before cancelling the transaction.
If you change your mind about the purchase before paying, please let me know as soon as possible so I can cancel the transaction and reclaim the fee I pay to Etsy.
Shipping
All items will be carefully packed for posting and proof of postage kept.

Your shipping address should match your Etsy address. Please contact me if there is likely to be a discrepancy with this or with your PayPal profile so your order can be sent to the correct place. I will use the Etsy invoice address provided at the time of purchase as the default.

Customs duty on imports
Please note that buyers are responsible for all duties and customs charges that may be incurred – please check for yourself if you are importing something from the UK so you don’t get a nasty surprise.
Refunds and Exchanges
I hope you will find your purchase entirely pleasing. However, please contact me immediately if you have a query when you receive your purchase. Such queries will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Monotypes on lightweight paper require careful handling before they are framed up. I will send them in suitable packaging - please do not discard all of this if you are going to query your purchase.

(Should a return be agreed on between us, please note that my shipping costs would be subtracted from your refund. You would also be responsible for return shipping in the original or equally sturdy packaging. Additionally, I’m sure you will understand no money will be refunded to your PayPal account before the item has been received back.)
Additional policies and FAQs
Just about every listing has excellent colour matching on my computer screen. I hope your monitor does the same job but it will depend on its age and settings. Very occasionally it is hard to capture the exact shade or detail of the original.

My artwork is on paper and therefore vulnerable to exposure to damp or very bright light. I use artist quality paints and supports, but paintings should never be displayed where they are in full sun. Some paints (e.g. gouache) are more easily scuffed so please regard any warnings on the listing.
