Me han preguntado varias veces cómo empecé a pintar muebles vintage. Nunca estoy completamente seguro de cómo comenzó todo. Ha sido una combinación de cosas a lo largo de mi vida. Supongo que el momento decisivo fue cuando mi hijo mayor, Tommy, necesitaba un escritorio para su habitación. Fue 2 años después de que naciera mi hijo menor, Billy. Era hora de tocar en las habitaciones musicales. Estos dos chicos estaban intercambiando habitaciones. La habitación pasaba de una cuna y cambiador a una habitación para un niño de doce años. Ya tenía la mayoría de los muebles, pero necesitaba un escritorio. Sabía que no iba a encontrar uno que coincidiera con lo que tenía, así que hagamos algo divertido. Encontré un escritorio y decidí teñirlo de verde, su color favorito. Después de esto, me di cuenta de que podía tener una casa llena de piezas que nadie más tendría.
Con el tiempo, me di cuenta de que mucha gente quería cosas que nadie más tenía. Nadie quiere estar con el mismo atuendo en una fiesta, ¿por qué querrían los mismos muebles que sus amigos? Mis piezas se vendían rápidamente en las páginas de venta de garaje de Facebook. Decidí probar una feria de artesanía. Fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de que tenía talento para esto. No me gusta hacer lo mismo dos veces, así que he estado experimentando con mis estilos y técnicas.
Vivo en el área de Tampa Bay con mi esposo y 3 hijos. Tengo un cuarto hijo también. Está en la Marina de los Estados Unidos.
I've been asked several times how I got started into painting vintage furniture. I'm never completely sure how it all started. It's been a combination of things throughout my life. I guess the defining moment was when my oldest son, Tommy, needed a desk for his bedroom. It was 2 years after my youngest, Billy, was born. It was time to play musical bedrooms. These two boys were swapping rooms. The room was going from a crib and changing table to a room for a twelve year old boy. I had most of the furniture already but I needed a desk. I knew I wasn't going to find one to match what I had so let's just do something fun. I found a desk and I decided to stain it green, his favorite color. After this, I realized I could have a house filled with pieces that no one else would have.
Over time, I realized lots of people wanted things that no one else had. No one wants to be in the same outfit at a party, why would they want the same furniture as their friends. My pieces were selling quickly off Facebook garage sale pages. I decided to try a craft fair. It was then that I realized I had a talent for this. I don't enjoy doing the same thing twice so I've been experimenting with my styles and techniques.
I live in Tampa Bay area with my husband and 3 children. I have a fourth child as well. He is in the US Navy.
