About

A love affair with the old and strange.

I've always love vintage and historical silhouettes- I spent hours upon hours as a child drawing the styles of every decade. Selling vintage clothing allows me to explore and learn even more about historical fashion, plus it's a flexible job that leaves room for my art practice as a performance artist and painter.

Frequently asked questions

Will this vintage clothing item fit me?

Some vintage items have a marked sizes but vintage sizes are very different from modern ones. I will usually estimate the modern size but this should be used as a guide only.

The only way to determine the size and fit of vintage clothing is to use the measurements provided in the listing. You can compare them to your own measurements- if the fabric is not stretchy remember to add an inch or two for comfort. Even better is to compare the measurements of the garment to well-fitting garment of your own that is similar in cut and fabric. Remember to use a flexible tape measure when taking your measurements! I'll be happy to answer questions and provide additional measurements but I can't guarantee the fit of any item.

Guide to Measurements & Fit

Most listings give a suggested size- but you MUST use the measurements for a good fit! Keep in mind vintage size run small, and for older garments may not correspond to modern sizes at all- basically marked tag size means nothing. Vintage clothing is cut differently- e.g. 50s dresses tend to be smaller in the waist. Always use the measurements, which are given in inches and taken as follows unless noted.

shoulder: seam to seam
bust: across the armpits
waist: narrowest part/natural waist
hip: fullest part: 9-10" below natural waist
length: shoulder to hem (dresses, tops, coats)
rise: waist to crotch with front and back waistband lined up (pants,
shorts)
inseam: from crotch to cuff (pants, shorts, rompers)

Do you reserve items? Do you accept trades?

I will mark an item as reserved for you for up to one week, if you are sure about the purchase. I may refuse to hold any item, especially if it's a brand new listing. Please convo me to request a reserve. I do not accept trades.

Shipping Times & Rush Orders

Items are usually shipped within 2 business days of purchase (not including weekends)- but occasionally I run a day or two behind. US orders ship via Priority (usually takes 2 days) OR 1st Class (usually takes 3-5 days to arrive)- minimum delivery time is 4 business days from purchase, or up to 9 days. Orders placed from outside the US are shipped via 1st Class International which takes 1-3 weeks on average, but occasionally it can take longer.

I can often process rush orders- please contact me before or at the time of purchase if you need an item by a certain date, and I may be able to ship it sooner than usual via my normal shipping method.

Can I order a certain item in a different size, color, or quantity?

I sell only vintage clothing that is at least 20 years old, and can't provide multiples or variations of any item. I have only the unique item pictured and described in each listing!

What does vintage condition mean?

All items in my shop are vintage and pre-owned, and small signs of wear are considered normal. Additionally vintage items may pick up a light odor from being stored for many years, which can intensify while your item is wrapped in a plastic bag for shipping- you may need to air your vintage order for a day or two before wear. Any noticeable flaws will be mentioned in the item description but small and unnoticeable irregularities and signs of wear are part of unique nature of vintage clothing! Cleaning and pressing is up to the buyer. Most items are shipped in soft envelopes rather than boxes and wrinkles may develop during shipping. Always convo me with questions about condition or anything else!

Care Instructions for Vintage Clothing

Please treat vintage clothing with gentle care! The best cleaning method varies depending on the fabric and age of the item. Depending on the item dry cleaning, hand washing, or machine washing on a gently cycle may be appropriate. Some vintage items should never get wet, even to spot treat. Convo me for information on any specific item and I'll be happy to offer advice, but I can't guarantee the safety or effectiveness of any cleaning method.

I'm buying from outside the US- does shipping cover customs fees or VAT charges?

The shipping price for any order from outside the US only covers my cost of shipping the order from the US Post Office. Customs fees or VAT charges/taxes are NOT included in the shipping price and will be added once the item arrives in the country of destination. Expect to pay an additional fee at your customs office once your order arrives. Information on VAT taxes or customs fees can be found online- look for the official website of the postal service of your country for more information.

Information on shipping insurance and filing a claim

All US orders are shipped with insurance, as are most international orders (availability and terms vary depending on your location- please contact me for details). If an item is lost or damaged in the mail please contact me right away and be sure to keep the package in tact just as you received it, packing materials and all. I will file a claim with the insurance carrier and issue a refund when the claim is settled. I will not provide a refund, store credit, or replacement items in the event an insurance claim is denied. Insurance claims will usually be denied if an order is lost after being marked as "delivered" or if the shipping address provided at the time of purchase is incorrect.

Additional information on returns and refunds

Please read the full description, check measurements, & ask questions before purchase! I'm happy to accept returns BUT the buyer always pays return shipping which can get expensive, especially for heavier items and/or if you live outside the US.

Buyers must follow my return policy in order to be eligible for a full refund. Items must be unworn, in their original condition, & carefully packaged to avoid damage in transit, otherwise refund amount will be lowered.

Items returned to me by a postal service or customs office (rather than the buyer) due to incorrect address, failure to claim package, or failure to pay VAT fees or other taxes are not eligible for a full refund. The refund amount (if any) will be determined case by case.
