RemnantDesignsIOS is taking a short break
Note from shop owner
In the beginning...
Remnant Designs was 'birthed' on the Isle of Skye in 2012. It came from a love to design and create whilst being at home with my littlies.
In 1 Corinthians 13 it says, "these three remain; faith, hope and love" and this was the main inspiration for the business name – faith, hope and love – 'the remnants' as I called them inspired the 'Remnant' Designs title.
I wanted to make things that were affordable but I did not want to use 'cheap' materials. It has been and still is a continued search for quality but affordable materials to use and any savings I find I pass on to you, the customer.
I have had no formal training as such. In my late teens, while studying business administration, finances were short and so I would make some of my own bags, occasionally remake clothes and when I had my first home I would make picture decorations from different fabrics and materials to put on my walls. Secretly, I was a hoarder and I could use anything and make it into something whether for myself or someone else but this creative side seemed to dwindle and eventually lay dormant for many years.
Whilst living on Skye the desire to create returned and I had so many ideas it was hard to know where to begin with them all but with a step of faith, a lot of hope and a love to design and create, I took that first step by carrying out market research to see if my creations were something of interest.
Following this, in 2012, Remnant Designs Isle of Skye was born. The main lead was jewellery for the first year, then Harris Tweed and wirework plaques followed by my funky shoppers and handbags. Since then npadditions of lampshades, scarves, bow ties, wedding ring pillows and more recently I’m moving into textile wall-hangings.
The business is still part time as I work around my family’s needs. I am appreciative of 'word of mouth' recommendations as this is how the business has been moving forward to date.
I have recently removed the ‘Isle of Skye’ from the name as this could mislead customers to think items are made on the Isle still. Suffice to say they are made in Scotland. At present in the Perthshire area.
Each piece is uniquely designed and put together by me for you. If you are looking for a unique, fun and funky, colourful, stylish and affordable piece then give a Remnant Designs.
I hope you find great joy in any purchase you make or receive from Remnant Designs.
All items are put together/made by just me for you. I work from home and work around life with my little people and husband. I have retailers who sell my creations on the Isle of Skye. I love what I do and hope you love it too.

Additional policies and FAQs
Every day we are reminded by the many silly things people do so please do NOT insert earrings, necklaces, bangles or bracelets into ANY orifice. Do NOT bite, lick, chew, suck on or otherwise ingest any of Remnant Designs creations. This rule applies for children too. Remnant Designs jewellery is made to be worn not eaten. Thank you.
Each piece is made with love and those of the more fragile nature should be handled with care. Jewellery is cleaned prior to posting and I would recommend storing your jewellery in a sealed plastic bag or airtight box when not in use.
Please let me know if the purchase is a gift and if you wish the invoice paperwork sent separately. Please indicate if you would like your name to appear on a card that will be included if it is a gift package.
