About

I have the collecting bug - bad. As my mood changes so do my collections.

It all started with garage sales. Something I could do with my husband that we both liked. That was thirty years ago. We got our hands on all the reference books we could. We invested in works of art and went to antique shows. In 2011 we graduated from the prestigious Missouri Auction School "The Harvard of Auction Schools." When we moved to Connecticut 15 years ago we found that the type of treasures we would find on our travels were much different than those in Florida. Older, with more history. Many garage sales, flea markets, church sales and auctions later, we have amassed quite a lot of goodies. We know that not everyone has the energy, locality or time to search, study, find and clean these items. We do it for them. We really enjoy selling on Etsy. We have customers from all over the world. Lately I have started making Jewelry, wreaths and collages with some of our left overs. I really enjoy that. I have sold a few. Which was a great feeling. My husband does all of my photography and he is getting better and better. I love him for that.

Hi, welcome to my store, Retro Cents Studio. We have been officially collecting vintage items for over 25 years. We live in a rural area of northeast Connecticut. We are surrounded by some of the oldest and most historic sites in America. This age and richness makes for excellent treasure hunting. Our home is decorated with many of the treasures we have amassed. Some might refer to our home as a museum. My husband also takes an interest in decorating our home together. It is like a big doll house for me to play in, I am forever adding, rearranging and playing with the many collections throughout our house. More recently I have started designing art and jewelry pieces from upcycled items. Made from many of the pieces I've collected my works of art have a nostalgic and retro style to them. I have taken an interest in textiles and have studied the subject extensively. Connecticut was once a major hub of the textile industry with the many mills that made a variety of cloth items, everything from dolls to table linens. Occasionally I come across some of these vintage items while scouring thrift shops and tag sales in the towns that grew up around these mills. I can't stop from picking up well made interesting vintage clothing, various cloths and materials. Many of these finds are available for purchase at my store, Retro Cents Studio. Check back regularly for newly added items. Contact me if you have any special interests, I just might have something for you....

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
Payment
PayPal is preferred for payment, it offers an extra layer of insurance for both parties. If reserving an item for later payment, payment must be rendered within seven (7) days from the date of reservation. If payment is not made before the 7 days, the reserve will be lifted and item available to everyone. Money orders and checks accepted from U.S.A. banks only. Items shipped only after a check has cleared.
Shipping
Most everything is shipped via USPS Priority Mail, 1st Class Mail or Parcel Post. If a listing does have an international shipping rate, contact us for a quote. Transit times vary depending upon the level of service used, delivery location and the time of year. At buyer's expense, expedited shipping is available. Packing supplies and constantly rising postal rates is our biggest expense. Shipping rates include a surcharge to cover packing materials and supplies. We recycle packing materials wherever possible to keep costs down and minimize waste.

Purchased items are carefully and securely packed and shipped immediately upon payment, usually on the same or next business day. Shipping notification and tracking numbers are provided for through Etsy when the shipping label is generated. Breakable items are packed with extra care and clearly labeled "fragile" on multiple surfaces of the package.

Once an item leaves our possession we are not responsible for how it is handled. Careless handling by USPS employees can be the cause of damage. We do not accept responsibility for lost packages, tracking information is always provided.
Refunds and Exchanges
All vintage items sold as-is. They are in used condition unless otherwise noted in the description. Pictures are the actual images of the listed item. All sales are final. Under normal circumstances, refunds are not given. Read the description and examine all the images thoroughly. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask before purchasing.

Returns accepted only if an item was wrongly described or misrepresented. Most conflicts happen because a buyer did not completely read the description, examine all pictures or ask questions first. Requests for refund for reasons that were clearly detailed in the description and pictures will not be honored. If a problem occurs I will make every effort to achieve a fair and equitable resolution.

At buyer's request and expense, insurance can be purchased. Abnormal damage caused during delivery requires receiving person to file the claim with the USPS. A claim requires properly documented damage. Take pictures of damaged item before removing from packaging. Upon removal, take multiple pictures of damage(s).
Additional policies and FAQs
My husband takes all the pictures and does all the shipping. He takes pride in everything he does. He takes high quality photographs of all items to show as much detail as possible as well as any defects, flaws or any other important details. I am knowledgeable on a lot of things, however I don't consider myself to be an expert on anything in particular. I try to describe everything as accurately as possible. If you should notice any incorrect information in the description, or have anything to add to it, please contact me. Additional pictures and information can be provided upon request.
