Love this vintage-inspired gym suit! It fits perfectly, and the cotton material is oh so comfy. Was delighted to find that the bloomer shorts and sleeveless style allow for ease of movement during any athletic activity. And what a nice surprise that our regulation uniforms come with an embroidered name tag! Five big stars!!

I bought these shoes to go with this dress I bought to celebrate my birthday. I love these shoes and they were true to description! They look new, and the color perfectly complimented my outfit. They came quickly. I would definitely buy from this shop again because it was a complete pleasure to work with her.

About

Inspired by Vintage

Having an online Etsy shop is an interesting challenge for me because I would much rather be creating and sewing than fiddling with computers and gadgets! I'm a low-tech artist who loves doing things the old-fashioned way. Even my sewing machines are non-computerized Pfaffs that I adore like family.
I've designed and/or made countless costumes for the stage, but nowadays I enjoy having a workshop in my home where I have the freedom to create what I want whenever inspiration strikes with no deadlines or dress rehearsals! Sometimes, I'll see a movie and say "I could make that dress" then find myself doing just that. Since I can't personally wear everything I'm inspired to make, why not a cyberspace storefront? RetroSewCo was born on Etsy...
I love working with clients to realize their designs and ideas. My Profile page gives more information about my custom work process; take a look at it then start a convo! I'm always happy to answer convos and inquiries.

Hello and welcome!
If you've been looking in my shop you know that I have an eclectic mix of handmade clothing and costumes. I've been a professional costume designer, maker and dressmaker all my life. I never know when inspiration will strike and I rush to my studio to begin a new project!
As a theater professional, I'm accustomed to sewing from complete sets of measurements taken in person; therefore I'm not always able to reproduce a complicated item for you from measurements you provide online. I like to use unusual or vintage materials that are limited in quantity and many of my Etsy items are one-of-a-kind and can't be duplicated.
Prices for custom made garments vary considerably depending on labor and materials and sometimes I can give only ball-park estimates until I understand the full scope of your project. That usually requires lots of questions from me and your honest answers, so please be patient! If you are serious about custom work from RetroSewCo please don't hesitate to contact me in a convo and I will be pleased to communicate back.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
RetroSewCo accepts credit card payment directly through Etsy, and PayPal.
You can also pay with Money Orders in USD. For custom work you must communicate with me through the convo system. Together we decide on the parameters, timeline, and estimated cost of your item. I request a non-refundable deposit of 50% down to begin your project. When completed, I e-mail a photo of completed item for your approval and final payment.
Shipping
I try to ship in stock items ASAP after payment, most times within 24 hours. Depending on your address, I ship USPS Priority with delivery confirmation. If you need an item quicker, I will do my best to expedite; again, convo me for options. USPS International shipping rates have increased. I am willing to ship certain items out of the US but this may not be cost effective for you on inexpensive items like shoes. Contact me for a shipping quote to your country.
Refunds and Exchanges
I can't accept returns for reasons of fit. I try to give complete measurements of ready to ship garments in the listing. It's a good idea when considering buying clothing online to use an inexpensive cloth tape measure to take your measurements and make note of them. If you need additional measurements to make an informed purchase please contact me using the "Ask a Question" feature on each listing page.
