About

Selling for a Bigger Purpose-Our Museum

My career started in the high-tech corporate world, but due to downsizing in the 90’s, I migrated into opening my own business in 1998 at my wife Suzanne’s–(an illustrator, writer and graphic designer who also sells on ETSY)–encouragement. I dabbled with selling my coin collection on an auction site and found my corporate background provided a solid education to build my own business, but it was again, Suzanne who suggested I restore and sell antique radios online. This idea was based on the fact that in college I worked for a TV repair shop, thus my experience in fixing tube electronics, plus Suzanne loves listening to NPR while working in her studio, and I LOVE listening to jazz stations on vintage tube stereos.

For the past fourteen years I’ve repaired antique radios, vintage hi-fi, vintage car radios and record players for customers here in the states and as far away as Singapore. My business continues to grow, but in 2014 I and a friend decided it was time to share our passion for vintage electronics by applying to the Federal government for a non-profit. In June 2014, on my wife Suzanne’s birthday, we found out our Vintage Hi-Fi Museum would be a reality! The museum is located in West Hartford Connecticut and the enthusiasm from the public has been wonderful!

A portion of the proceeds from sales in this ETSY shop will go towards running the Vintage Hi-Fi Museum. It’s the museum’s mission to educate audio enthusiasts and future generations about high fidelity music, analog audio systems with components “Made in the USA”, from the very beginning to the Golden Age of vacuum tube audio (1950’s to 1960’s) and finally transistors (1970’s, 1980’s), thereby promoting its preservation, operation, restoration, and history. We hope our ETSY shop will inspire you to come visit the museum!
