Inspired by old prints

Our offerings are the authentic and original, not modern reproductions. To the best of our ability the dates we claim are reasonably accurate based on our predessor's archive references, dates on the materials, research and advice from other collectors.

Our items have been stored well and are in the condition as described, often excellent. We hope you will check out our offerings and let us know what you think. As you may see our clients recognize the quality we offer.

Our selection of mostly Chromolithographic prints have been in our family for generations. Most of the materials we offer were published in Germany but others were produced at premier publishers in Europe, England and the U.S. Chromolithography is distinguished from modern photo lithography in several important ways. Chromolithography or Chromo’s of the 17th and 18th centuries were the result of skilled artists creating often 12 or more (often 15) separate color plates. Each plate was hand stippled to create one “chromo” part of the image. The plates were placed on a massive (sometimes steam driven) presses, and precisely aligned to create a full color Chromolithographic image. Modern Color-Separation-Lithography, employs photo masking and fewer plates, (often only 4 or 5 in the CYMK process). These modern pigments and methods vary in color, texture and character when compared to the original period art pieces. The pigments and artistry of original Chromolithographs is unsurpassed.
We very much appreciate your comments and feedback, Mir and Joe
