This is an amazingly beautiful piece of art, it fit in beautifully in our kitchen which we had recently painted yellow; this piece brought us the splash of color and warmth we needed to complete the room. Roxy's work has a casual elegance to it that is very unique. She was a real pleasure to work with, we had our painting within a week and it was even more stunning in person than online! You can't go wrong with this artist!! :)

About

Create Beautiful Things

My name is Jennifer Roxanne Rich. I go by Roxy.

I've been a stand-up comedian for over twenty years. I moved to LA when I was 22 years old to pursue acting and comedy with a hundred dollar bill not realizing it actually cost money to live here! I've had about sixty different jobs in fashion, sales, interior decorating, balloon design and delivery, and countless others. I have had a few acting jobs, lots of comedy jobs, including headlining at the Debbie Reynold's Theatre in Las Vegas. The comedy scene is one of two routes: live on the road and get really good, or stay in LA to be available for auditions. I've done both. I still book tours a few times a year as I love doing comedy. I also wrote and published a book about my experiences in customer service. I am happiest when I am doing something creative. Designing something, singing, dancing, painting, sculpting, learning how to make something I find interesting.

My first job in Los Angeles was apprenticing an artist. I have always been very good with colors and he taught me a few priceless techniques. Unfortunately, he became ill and has passed on. Before he left, he made it clear to me that I should continue art. Without him, it was difficult. Throughout the years, I continued to paint when the urge struck me, but usually was too busy trying to make ends meet. Painting requires a lot of time and patience and a budget. In fact, all of my greatest skills other than fashion styling are things that don't pay-until much later. (Stand-up comedy, acting, writing, painting, photography, hence, "Starving Artist.") A few years ago, I realized I was unhappy in my current day job and being frugal, had the wherewithal to change directions. I decided, that's it! I'm going to paint full time. I found a craft fair at a winery in Temecula and started setting up there each weekend. It took almost a year to create an inventory with enough variety in style and price to earn consistent sales. I heard about Etsy via another vendor and created my shop shortly after learning about it.

I am thrilled to be doing art full time. I keep a part-time job in fashion to secure my living expenses, but some day, will be able to only do my art forms.

My intention is to create beautiful things. It's what I do best. I love it when a customer comes back to my booth a month later and says, "I hung it in the entryway and every time I walk in the door and see it, it makes me happy." This is my total purpose in life: to help people by raising their emotional state. I do this with comedy, writing, styling, and now with my art. It is very rewarding for me when someone purchases something I made so that they can look at it every day, or give it as a gift. It is a special kind of validation I cannot even explain. When I make an audience laugh, it is very similar. For those moments when they are laughing, they are not thinking about politics or problems or worries. They are just laughing. And when someone views my art and is cheered up by it, I hope I am creating a similar effect. That is extremely important to me.

I make a very unique kind of three dimensional art. I am also a Monet lover and work at my own impressionism every week. It is very much how I see the world. I make very whimsical art as well. Kitties in trees and champagne corks flying off bottles and just things that are pretty to look at but also have some humor. Most of my paintings shimmer when properly lit. It's an unexpected delight when people realize it. My pieces create conversation and I have been told many times from customers that their visitors always complement their choice of art. It makes my day.

My name is Roxy. I am a Stand-up Comic, Author, and Visual Artist.
All art purchases help me further my entertainment and writing careers.
I have one book published and am currently working on my next book. I hope to someday be able to work solely at my various forms of art.

I enjoy making and painting them. I sell them at a craft fair in Temecula, California on weekends and also have a few in The Temecula Lavender Company, a boutique in Old Town.

I do my best to photograph them, but the pictures don't truly show how interesting they are. When they are on a wall or display with proper lighting, you can really see the three D effect and the sparkles.

Shipping
PLEASE NOTE: Shipping Costs of any item other than my thin canvas panels include purchase of correct box, bubble wrap and packaging in addition to the actual cost of shipment. The final cost is shipping PLUS the packaging and cost of paying UPS store to handle wrapping. This is most effective because they insure when they have packed it themselves.

I usually ship on Mondays and Fridays as I still have a day job in a boutique during the week and sell my art on weekends at fairs and shows. Custom orders may take a little longer. The paintings take quite some time to sculpt, then dry. Once dry, I have to paint them. Depending on the design, it may take several hours. (For example, my Tiny Autumn Trees take about six or seven hours to paint.) Please order well in advance if you are purchasing as a gift. I may not be able to make one overnight to ship the next day.

I live in LA during the week and in Temecula on weekends. I usually make the art in my studio in Los Angeles, then bring it to Temecula where I paint it. The art gets stored in Temecula. If you order a painting on Monday, and I have already left, I won't be able to access your painting to ship it until Thursday or Friday. I do keep some of the small paintings with me, if you order one I happen to have on hand, I will ship right away, but be aware that I may have to get it from my studio in Temecula, which will take a few days. Temecula is 96 miles Southeast of LA.

I inspect each one and sign it before shipping.

Shipping

* You can rest assured your items are packed with care, and will arrive safely. If the item is small, I ship it myself. I may use USPS Priority Mail. I wrap each item in multiple layers of bubble and mark "fragile". They have plenty of packaging material. Or, I ship Via UPS Store. They bubble wrap the paintings and provide the box. This is the best option when shipping a large painting. Shipping prices include packing materials and boxes from UPS Store. As I can only make an estimate, the prices are high to cover box charges and far away places. I shipped a 30 x 40 wine painting to Arizona from Los Angeles. It cost $72.00. I based my prices on that transaction.

* Insurance is included in my shipping prices. If an insured item arrives damaged, Buyer is responsible for retaining the packaging and damaged item for insurance purposes. No refunds for damaged items will be made to the Buyer until the Buyer completes his/her part of the obligation in assisting to file the insurance claim.

* The item will be shipped to the address as shown on Paypal (if paid with Paypal), or the address shown for Etsy (if paid through Etsy's Direct Checkout). For Paypal, the buyer should be sure his/her Etsy and Paypal addresses match. Buyer is responsible for providing a correct and current shipping address

* I ship USPS Priority Mail, UPS Store, parcel post, first class mail parcel, Media Mail, First Class International, depending on the size of the painting and where it is going.

* Some larger items may have to be shipped UPS, or FedEX because of it's size or weight, but it is noted in the description.

* I am happy to adjust shipping for multiple items ordered. I will refund the shipping adjustment through paypal or Etsy after shipping the items.

* For international buyers and Alaska and Hawaii, I can provide a quote on the shipping. Please contact me before ordering with your country for exact shipping cost. My shipping costs are ESTIMATES. I ship First Class International, as it is the most cost effective shipping.

I try my best to give an accurate description of each painting. My photographs are clear and close up to help you in making a sound decision in purchase. In fact, I have been told many times that they look even better in person. My customers are astonished when they discover that the design truly stands out and the metallic and glitter accents that aren't picked up in the camera really pop. When lit properly, the painting will literally sparkle and shimmer when it catches track lighting or candle light. If you have any questions, or would like to see more photos, please convo me prior to purchase.

I want you to really love the painting you receive. If you feel it has been grossly misrepresented, please contact me to arrange for a refund (less shipping). ***Shipping to or from will not be refunded. Buyer pays return postage and refund is for ITEM ONLY and is to be returned in original box and packaging and in original condition within ONE WEEK of the delivery date. Please, contact me through Etsy immediately if you wish to return an item so that I may expect it..
