About RickLenzArt

Sales 39
On Etsy since 2014

Humor, Love, Kindness, Gratitude, Compassion.

These are the things I try to incorporate into my life and my art. I’ve spent most of my adult life, first as an actor (rent “Cactus Flower” and check out the young me), and then as a writer. Even though I’ve only been drawing and painting for about seven years, the art was growing inside me and waiting to come out. Now it is my passion and I feel so lucky, and yes, blessed, to be able to do what I love!

I work in watercolors—I love color (my paints are like candy to me). I do the initial sketches in black ink, then dive into the colors. I usually work on the dining room table, or on the bed with newspapers spread all over it. These are my “studios.” If you pass by my house at 4 a.m. and see the lights on, I’m probably painting.

My drawings and paintings are almost entirely products of my imagination. This is not bragging; if you promised to pay me a fortune if I painted the landscape right in front of us, I’d never collect a penny from you. I can’t paint what’s in front of my nose. What I can do—and I’ve never understood why—is recreate the images and creatures that populate my imagination. These “pictures in my head” are erratic, impulsive and almost always very colorful. They’re also unpredictable. I never know what’s going to be on the paper when a painting is finished. The odd thing is, I always have a sense of déjà vu when it’s complete—like this is an image, a being, that’s been hanging around inside me all my life.

The original paintings are for sale (please inquire if you’re interested, as prices vary). Most of them are done on heavy, smooth-surfaced white paper, 11 x 17 inches. I do most of my own printing on the latest generation Canon printer. I use inks and papers of the best museum quality. The giclees I produce are guaranteed to last for generations. I have outside help transferring my designs onto the mugs and t-shirts. These people are first-rate and do the high-quality work that I expect.

I think most of my giclee prints are well set off (and into easily framable sizes) by the museum-quality white mats I use. Also, all images are available in almost any size print. The ones I think work best for t-shirts and mugs are already prepped for that purpose. If you're interested in a t-shirt or mug not shown, please let me know in the "Contact the Shop Owner" section and I'll do my very best to accommodate you.

I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures as much as I love painting them.

Thanks for visiting my shop!

Q: How will it ship?
A: Your item(s) will be carefully packed, in sturdy waterproof packaging, and shipped the safest, most expedient way possible. Usually, I prefer USPS Priority Mail with online tracking number. (Contact me if you want faster shipping). I automatically ship to your Etsy check-out address unless instructed by you to send it elsewhere.

The tracking number I send will follow your package until it leaves the US, but then it's in the hands of your country's postal system. If you haven't received your order in 6 weeks, please check that your local post office isn't holding your package hostage for customs and/or duty fees.

The buyer should assume customs fees for each country.

If your item is damaged during shipping, please send me a photograph of the damage and I will make replacement arrangements.
